Saw lots of sleds out this weekend! Hope everyone had a good ride! There’s a few things I wanted to touch on and a few pictures to post from our opening weekend so I figured I’d make a Sunday evening recap post. First of all I wanted to thank our trail volunteers and grooming staff for the top notch work this first week of the 2021 season. They’ve done a terrific job and will continue to be out working this week. We had a few members clear some brush in Orleans today so the... groomer will be able to pass. Also Ian and I went out today to add a few signs in Carlsbad Springs and on the KOC trail. We’ve received a few messages from land owners about snowmobiles trespassing on their properties so I have to ask again, PLEASE STAY ON TRAIL. We’ve already had someone go off trail to cut a corner and take out a section of electric fence. Also had a few freshly planted commemorative trees ran over.. not the kind of stuff we want to hear one week in. Also just a reminder to pay close attention and watch your speed on the shared use trails. There was just as many dog walkers and cross country skiers as snowmobiles on the rail beds this weekend. Hope everyone was safe and had fun! If you have pictures from your weekend ride post them below!
Anyone find a gas cap in Carlsbad?

Residents of Osgoode Ward: It has come to my attention that the Osgoode Pathway network has had a lot of traffic in Osgoode Ward this winter. With snowmobile ...season in full swing, and the expectation of even more traffic on our network, we’d like to remind people of some of the permitted activities. They include: Pedestrian walking/running Skiing On-leash dog walking Horse-riding Snowmobiling I hope all people engaging in these activities can be respectful of everyone’s safety while sharing the pathway, including picking up after your pets. I also encourage people not to veer onto the snowmobile trails, as it can be extremely dangerous for pedestrians and is considered private property. For added safety, please stick to the multi-use pathway, wear reflective clothing, and make sure not to block the entrance ways to the network. Many people call and email my office asking the City of Ottawa to clear the trails for skiing or walking; however, the Osgoode Multi-Use Pathway is NOT maintained by the City. Through a legal land user agreement with our local Osgoode Carleton Snowmobile Trail Club, they groom and maintain the trails for safe snowmobile use. Without them, it would be challenging for everyone to traverse the pathways in the winter months. My thanks to the volunteers at the Osgoode Carleton Snowmobile Trail Club and Carleton Regional Snowmobile Club for their time, equipment and funding for fuel, to make this possible each and every winter. For more information on this Rural Pathway network, please check out the link below: https://ottawa.ca//cycl/completed-projects/rural-pathways. Let’s stay safe this winter!
