Due to the current weather conditions the Workshop, Bottle Depot, Thrift Store and Diner will be closed for today. The Gas & Go as well as the Post Office are currently open but we will continue to monitor the conditions throughout the day and re-evaluate if needed. If you have to go out please drive safe as it’s quite slippery out there.

As you may have noticed, the ATM machine at our Laundromat has been turned off. The machine was vandalized again and we have decided not to repair or replace it at this time. Though this decision saddens us, we do not feel that we can continue to maintain this service when people carry on with damaging and vandalizing the machine. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes.

This week is a time we always enjoy tree picking with our participants, however we regretfully will NOT be selling Christmas Trees this season. This has been a tough decision however we are not able to obtain them from our regular supplier this season and with the up-rise in cases and the new restrictions, we have decided not to source out a new supplier. We remain hopeful that we will be able to provide this service again next year. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in the past and continue to do so in the present.

Under normal circumstances this week we would all have been at Camp. A week looked forward to by both staff and participants, it allowed us to relax and recover from the workload as well as draw closer together. Planned with lots of games and activities, delicious food, and a prank or two, the week would usually pass by in the blink of an eye. We are saddened it wont be happening this year and so weve gathered some pictures and videos from previous years to share with you and to take this opportunity and say that we miss each and every one of our participants very much!

Carleton Road Industries Association 08.08.2020

We know youre eager to visit us at Shakes on Main Diner and In Your Back Pocket Thrift Store, however, at this time they will remain closed. The successful operation of these businesses is reliant on the assistance of our valued participants. Until such a time that the Department of Community Services approves their return, we eagerly anticipate seeing them and all of you.

Update on our Bottle Exchange We know youve been hanging on to bags upon bags of refundables and we are so thankful for your patience as we prepare ourselves for opening. As we transition into the new phase, we will be operating at reduced hours and staff. Our Bottle Exchange will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9AM until 3PM.... Please take a moment to review the restrictions we have in place and what we will be doing to reduce the spread of COVID-19. - CRIA staff will be wearing masks to protect you, the customer, and ourselves. We ask, if possible, for our customers to wear one as well. - We will be sanitizing frequently touched surfaces between customers as well as in the morning before opening. - We will be limiting the number of customers to one (1) in the building at a time. This may cause others to have to wait in line while maintaining physical distancing (2M/6Ft.). We ask that you please be patient if this does occur; we are doing the best we can within our small space. - We will not be accepting truck loads of bottles at this time so preferably less than six bags at a time, please. - To speed up the process, please try to separate your aluminums from your plastics and have them pre-counted with the number clearly marked on the bag. Please follow the below instructions so that we can go from customer to customer as quickly and as efficiently as possible. - Sanitize your hands when you enter the building and before you leave. - Write your name, your phone number, the day of your visit, and the time in our tracking log. - If you feel sick, even only mild symptoms, please stay home. - If you have traveled within fourteen (14) days or have been around someone who has, please stay home. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 902-584-3332. We appreciate you all so much and thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you all soon!

Hello summer weather! But, of course, with the warmer temperatures the grass has started to grow. As you may have seen, our Property Maintenance crew has begun tackling its yearly contracts. On a good day, however, we are only seven staff maintaining these properties and so, if you are on our list we ask that you please be patient. We have not forgotten about you. We cannot work in the rain (or snow!) and we are working with a fraction of the crew we would usually send out. We appreciate your continued support during these difficult times and look forward to making your lawns look good! #carletonroadindustries #cria #propertymaintenance #workingtogetherbuildingskills

The Chapter has been in contact with our local Department of Community Services (DCS) office. DCS is encouraging families who currently receive respite funding... for their child/adult to contact their Care Coordinator to discuss possible flexible options for using respite funding. This may provide families with the opportunity to still use their respite dollars to benefit their family member with autism, even if they are not able to access a respite care provider during this time of social isolation. ***UPDATE: Thanks everyone, we have a name and address!*** Anyone recognize this scruffy lookin fella? At 12:54am Friday morning he ruined our change machine at the laundromat and got away with $600. This was the one part of our business we had left open to residents of Lawrencetown during this pandemic to enable them to get their laundry done and grab some snacks at any hour of the day. Please share...RCMP have been to the scene....any tips as to whom this is please private message us....cash reward leading to arrest.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: Due to the ever increasing concern over the COVID-19 virus, CRIA Gas & Go will be closed at 6PM on Wednesday, March 18th, 2020 until further notice. We view the safety of our customers and our team as a top priority and since we cannot maintain the social distancing that has been ordered by the province, we feel this is a necessary step to take. In light of the growing concerns and stress related to the spread of COVID19, CRIA has decided to implement a one week break for all client services from March 16-20. This includes: All On- Site Activities (Woodworking, Landscaping) All Community Employment Support... This break is to help reduce the risk faced from travelling to and from CRIA as well as attending programs with others. Social Distancing is one of the best things we can do to prevent the spread of this virus, which is why we have made this decision. Please take this break as a time to relax at home and take care of yourself to ensure you are as strong as you can be in the event COVID19 is more present in Nova Scotia. CRIA staff will be available by phone to help you. We are all preparing for the potential impacts of COVID19, if you need help while you prepare, please let us know. We will continue to talk to you about our plans for keeping everyone in the CRIA family safe physically and mentally. In particular - Our Diner, Post office, Gas bar, Bottle Depot, and Thrift Store we will remain open however we will monitor this situation daily. We hold the safety of our customers and our team as a top priority. As the situation with Covid-19 develops we are following the lead of public health authorities and recommendations of national restaurant associations. In response to the developing situation with Covid-19 we are taking enhanced measures to protect customers and employees. This includes: * Increasing the frequency that we sanitize surfaces throughout. * Installing additional Sanitizer Dispenser stations for your convenience * Removing display items where not necessary We also ask our customers to take the advice of the public health officials and to refrain from visiting our stores if they feel unwell. You might notice that these and additional precautions could slightly reduce our usually speedy service, but we hope that when your server says, Hello, I will be right back to serve you, I need to wash my hands you will appreciate that we want to provide you good quality and safe service. Please remember the most important ways you can help prevent the spread of any respiratory illness, including COVID-19: 1. SOCIAL DISTANCING 2. PRACTICE GOOD HAND HYGIENE 3. USE COUGH AND SNEEZE ETIQUETTE 4. CLEAN HIGH-TOUCH SURFACES AND OBJECTS OFTEN
