We use our mobile phones for so many things from public socializing to private intimate communication. In this workshop, we’ll talk about strategies for keeping our most intimate mobile and internet communications safe and private in ways that matter to you. We’ll talk about issues in mobile phone privacy, surveillance and online identity and we’ll share our creative strategies for keeping intimate and online relationships safe and private. Bex Hong Hurwitz, founder Tiny Giga...ntic (https://tinygigantic.io), is an enthusiastic breaker and maker of technology for social justice. They see holistic security as one of the many super powers of social justice movements to care for each other, be more sustainable, and stand stronger against injustice. Bex finds strength and joy in queer, Korean, and adoptee communities and draws inspiration and wisdom in working alongside others in linked liberation. Consent is Golden Consent Comes First Ryerson

My roommate just ended her relationship with her long-term partner, and now she is being threatened that her intimate videos will be exposed online if they don’t get back together. To end #IBelieveYou Day, here is a great article on Tarana Burke's work: "I actually had the idea of empowerment through empathy before the words "me too," because I thought about how powerful it feels to not be alone. How empowering it is to know you don't have to walk a journey by yourself, to know that you're not the only one. And how inherently powerful it is to do things collectively. And that was the building block for Me Too." https://www.usatoday.com//tarana-burke-me-too-/5535976002/

Ugh, so angry. At a party some guys were following my friend into the bush to watch him go to the bathroom. When I confronted them they said he’s gay, so he’s probably into it. Clearly privacy and respect is NOT common sense... #JustGotWeird #Creepy #BystanderIntervention #EndHomophobia #Boundaries Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women (OCTEVAW)
