Carling Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club 02.02.2021

As most of you likely know we worked hard this season to get our 405 trail back. This very valuable trail let’s our groomers get around portage lake and saves Km’s of road running as well as wear and tear on the groomers. It was very generous of the land owner to let us reopen this trail and we are so grateful, but it also took money for culverts and trail supplies as well hours of volunteers work to get the trail ready. The land owners biggest concern was not having snowmobi...les on the road and while out preparing the trail today (that is still closed and yet to be officially opened) we came across multiple and I mean multiple tracks going off the trail down on to the private road and climbing the hill crossing over the trail all within plain view of one of our multiple stay on trail or premission revoked signs. We took the time and moved the trail up the hill the snowmobiles went down to keep people away from the road. If this happens to be someone reading this or if anyone may have seen the sleds doing this please send us a message. All I am looking for is someone to own up to this and apologize to the land owners in hope we do not loose this very important part of our trail system. We are all hoping for good news this week regarding our trails but if things like this keep happening we won’t have any trails to ride. Please respect our generous land owners as well as volunteers that make our trail system work by staying on the trail so we can all enjoy the sport we love. See more

We know you're as upset as we are seeing posts about trespassing and snowmobilers going off marked trails. WE NEED YOUR HELP in showing our support and appreci...ation to our AMAZING LANDOWNERS who generously donate their land each winter for all of us to enjoy. If you're reading this, we know you likely aren't part of the problem but we hope you can be a part of the solution by holding your riding friends to the same standard! Thank you for riding marked trails and doing your part to ensure we have trails to enjoy for many years. #friendfriday See more

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit ordered the temporary closure of snowmobile trails within its region to all riders on January 18 (effective Janua...ry 21), and many are wondering what action the OFSC has taken. Since last week, we have been trying to get an appointment with that Medical Officer of Health but to date his office has not confirmed a meeting. Meanwhile, on behalf of all its clubs, volunteers and permit holders, the OFSC sent a letter to the Premier, to Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Medical Officers of Health of all public health units, and to Ontario MPP’s. Our letter emphasizes what the OFSC has been doing provincially since early fall to comply with public health measures and states our serious concerns with any arbitrary regional or local trail closure imposed without prior consultation with our local clubs, districts or the OFSC itself and without appropriate consideration of the many safety, trespass and economic ramifications of any such decision. We are pleased to report that our message was well received and that no other public health units appear to be considering restricting snowmobile trails within their regions at this time. Our Manager of Government Relations continues to reach out to our broad range of government contacts to advocate for keeping snowmobile trails as a permitted activity across Ontario. See more
