A letter written to the Nanaimo Regional District. I guess we will start this letter by telling you what you're taking away from us and how you've affected not only my papa but the family as well. Do you see the race cars around here, the Ponies next door, the kids who live in this house? No I don't think you do. So let me tell you what you're taking away from us. If you could only see my little brother and papa working on Chevy's (my little brother) who is only turning 14... work on his race car together. Do you know he actually races that car on the weekend, or did you just think it sits in the yard doing nothing? If only you could see the smile on Chevy's face when he comes in the pit from just racing, whether he is first or last, hes always smiling. Do you know how proud my papa is sitting out there working on that car, showing Chevy how to fix things, or watching him race. I bet you didn't know any of that, did you. I bet you didn't know I also race, but not cars, horses. Every Weekend from April to September, I am a Barrel Racer. Did you know my papa comes to watch me? Do you know why I am able to do what I do? Well, Keep reading you'll find out soon. Did you know there are 6 kids living in this house, 6 kids who have clothes and food, did you see the dogs or cats? Do you know why us kids and the animals all have food everyday? Because of CARLS METAL SALVAGE, you know that place you heartless people are shutting down. Yes, that place. Do you have any idea what you have done to my papa, the stress you have caused him. Do you know that some days he cant get up off the bench cause hes so sore from working the night before. I bet you didn't know that. Did you know that my papa has a hard time walking around cause hes in pain all the time, and you guys doing this to us is making it worse. Do you know that 2 of the kids that live in this house have disability's and cant live on their own and thanks to my papa they have a great life. Moving the business is a possibility and you're making us do it, but you have no idea how it is going to affect my papa and there is no way he will be able to travel back and forth to a job. -Karlee Carlson

After 25 years in business at this address the Regional Board has chosen to close us from doing business we have to move it or close. They have allowed us to build a large shop on our property to use for Carl's Metal Salvage but now say no. We have residential property that for 25 years was ok but for some reason its not allowed now.
