Petals On Pedals

A friend and mentor gifted me some of her homegrown tea mixture, it's inspired me to start my own tea garden! With all of this warm weather I got super eager two weekends ago and seeded some Lemon Balm. They germinated over this past weekend and I've been smiling at the seedlings ever since! I'm still looking for chamomile, bergamot, holy basil, a variety of mint, borage and lavender seeds

I spotted these primulas peaking their heads out from the melting snow this afternoon, and my heart filled with joy! It certainly feels like Spring is making an entrance! If the weather agrees I'm hoping to start garden Spring Cleanups over Spring Break (March 27 - April 4th), if you or someone you know is looking for help welcoming in Spring I would love to help!!!

There was no school today and the snow's all melted, so I took advantage of the weather and did one last garden clean up in my very first client's garden. While working away I stumbled upon a chive flower! Chives normally bloom in July, but this little beauty produced one last flower, even through the snow! Let me tell ya every garden needs some chives to add welcomed fragrance, gorgeous mid summer blooms and some contained grass like texture!

With snow on the ground it looks like I'll be putting away my gardening shovel in exchange for our snow shovel. I am so grateful for all of the gardens I had the chance to work in this summer and fall, I can hardly wait for spring to return so I can start up again! I'm sending out a big thank you to all of my wonderful clients - I'm so grateful for all of your support this year and for the opportunity to spend time in your garden. See you all in the spring!

I got to do another "teach-by-day-garden-by-night" combo today - the sun came out just after school and kept me company for a few hours while I worked in a gorgeous garden I filled the green bin with leaves and it was getting late so I'll be back for the final leg later this week. I must say that I have the greatest clients, everyone is so flexible and understanding about my work schedule, I'm feeling very fortunate!

Fridays are half days at school so I was able to spend my afternoon helping a client put her front and back graden to sleep for the winter, what a dreamy autumn day!

Substitute teacher by day, landscape-gardener by night: I got to spend my day teaching awe-inspiring youth and my evening working in a peaceful garden bed, I'm feeling very fortunate right now!

We finished lasagna gardening and adding compost - this wonderful client is all ready to plant when spring comes! It's been such a fun and rewarding project (I even got to use a power drill and my wheelbarrow), I can hardly wait to plant in the spring!

I feel so fortunate to have found some clients right in my own neighborhood! Not only do I get to know my amazing neighbors and their gardens... but I can also walk right over with my tools! It's been another fun Sunday playing in the soil, I have the greatest clients ever!!
