We have replanned the calendar with the assumption that we will be able to reopen for in-person classes after the 11th of February. If you are registered in a class please check your email for rescheduling details. If you are interested in getting started with training online please see www.carolark.com As February 11th becomes closer, and being able to open is confirmed, we will add dates and classes to the calendar. If there is a specific class you are looking for and there is nothing available in the existing classes please drop us a note at [email protected] and we will let you know as soon as we start to expand the listed options.

As they say, plans change. With Ontario’s declaration of a State of Emergency which will extend to at least February 11th, we have put another re in front of plan. We now have an additional delay in the ability to deliver in-person classes. The delay extends to at least February 11th, but that opening date is certainly not written in stone. Online services for private coaching continue to be available. ... If you are registered in a class please watch your email (also check junk folders) over the next several days for proposed options. Flexibility is one of those virtues along with patience right?. We will get out of this tunnel at some point. Please stay safe and well.

The way your dog sees, hears, tastes, senses touch and smells the world is different than our own. Keeping this in our thoughts as we plan and execute our training is very beneficial.

"Over the past 15 years, handlers with Guide Dogs for the Blind, which trains dogs to be aides for sight-impaired people, have extinguished nearly all negative training techniques and with dramatic results. A new dog can now be ready to guide its owner in half the time it once took, and they can remain with an owner for an extra year or two, because they’re so much less stressed out by the job, says Susan Armstrong, the organization’s vice president of client, training and veterinary operations. https://time.com/5880219/science-of-dog-training/

With Ottawa health encouraging the suspension of all non-essential travel and fully expecting that this afternoon will bring significant lockdowns to the province, Carolark is suspending group class at minimum until April 6th. This means your next class is expected to be April 6th or later. Classes will continue to completion covering all sessions associated with it. If things change in the meantime we will provide updates of course. We will send reminders out for the res...umption of class. Carolark can provide coaching or counselling via video conference and we will be opening up some private training spots which will be available provided direction from the Government or other events don't preclude us from offering this service. Today we are trying to ensure that existing group class attendees are made aware of the class suspension. We will provide information to current clients of support during the next weeks later.. For people attending/planning to attend puppy class please watch your email for information in terms of guidance to socialize pups at home. Puppyhood is a critical window for the introduction of various things to our dogs. We want to continue to support you in that endeavour. Please stay well, take care of yourself and those around you. And wash your hands. Heather

COVID-19 and training at Carolark. We are paying attention to the situation around COVID-19 and the directions of our health organizations and governments. Our current practises and guidelines. Our facility is cleaned regularly with a disinfectant we obtain through our vet (the same that they use in their facility). We have added increased vigilance on cleaning door handles, railings, taps, and other equipment.... Please continue with the safe practice of appropriate space between yourself and other dogs and their handlers. Entrance/Exit areas are tighter so waiting outside the building or in a classroom until space is available for entering/exiting a classroom or the building. We have soap and paper towel available in all washrooms and the kitchen. Hand sanitizer is also available. A solution of the disinfectant we use on the facility is also available in spray bottles in both classrooms. If you feel ill and as always if your dog seems unwell, please do stay home. If you have decided not to attend class and are currently signed up for class please be in touch and we can find a solution whether that is a cancellation, private training or, remote consultations or coaching. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and adjust to support our clients, our team and our community.
