Soft pretty palette for a bedroom, powder room or...???

Carol Standil: Colour & Design 20.09.2020

Nature's palette offers endless inspiration for a home that is relaxing, uplifting, restful, energizing and inspiring. Which ones inspire you?

Juicy colour mix to warm your heart on a cold winter morning.

This colour palette is speaking to me on this chilly, grey morning. I love that it is both calming (blue/green) and energizing (green and yellow). #prettycolour

I love mixed blues and greens at any time of year, but especially during winter when the world outside is mostly white or grey. #colourhappiness #liveincolour

A bit of colour love on a chilly Tuesday morning.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope there's good food on your table today and, especially for my Manitoba friends, that you have come through this weekend's snow "event" safely and reasonably unaffected. My thanks to the hydro crews who have been working so hard to get power restored as quickly as possible.

Could you, would you, paint your walls pink? I don't mean the nursery - I'm talking a major room in your house. I'll admit it's not usually my first choice, so for fun, I used First Light - Benjamin Moore's 2020 Colour of the Year - in mood boards for a living room, a dining room and a bedroom. Check them out and let me know what you think! carolstandil.wordpress.com//interpreting-benjamin-moores-/

Something to think about next time you're scratching your head in the lighting aisle. Colour temp is not the be-all and end-all, and the CRI is often hard to find on the package, but it's an important consideration when lighting your home.

We're well into 2019 now, but these kinds of articles are always interesting. Are you ready for colourful walls and furnishings and art that you love, regardless of whether it's the "perfect colour for the living room"? #colourfulinteriors #livelifecolourfully #goodcolour #colourmakesmehappyhappyhappy

Farrow & Ball's modern-day Arsenic green is far less deadly than the original version of arsenic based green (I shared a post about that yesterday!), but it is certainly still to die for. Not from. #liveaacolourfullife #interiorcolour

A tidbit for my fellow colour geeks. Colour to die for?

I don't have much restraint when it comes to colour in my yard. I love my riot of zinnias brightening every corner of the yard. #colourishappiness #zanyforzinnias

Now here's a luscious, juicy, palette! Are you a fan?

Carol Standil: Colour & Design 25.04.2020

Just a friendly reminder that choosing your colour isn't as easy as you might think....

When it comes to this bold and colourful interior are you team "hell ya!", team "I wish I was brave enough, but this scares the heck out of me", or team "never in a million years"?

This post by the fabulous Tricia Firmaniuk for Maria Killam's blog is bang on. And having also worked with MaryAnn White for my own back yard, I can attest to her brilliance.

On the continued theme of dreaming about growing things -- how freaking awesome is this border? I've only every used potato vine in a pot, but this might be the year I test it out in the border.

I'm SO ready for spring. I'm NOT a one-colour garden kind of gal. I can appreciate them when others have them, but in our short summers, I want a RIOT of colour. Last summer I stuffed some zinnia babies into a big pot as part of a desperate attempt to deal with an over-abundance of seedlings. They turned out to be a HUGE success, and this image is giving me visions of an even greater profusion of these colourful beauties this summer. Added bonus? Rabbits don't care for them. #livelifecolourfully #colourfeedsmysoul #winnipegcolourconsultant #riotofcolour

Hello sunshine! This bright pop of tangerine with weathered shingle siding is speaking volumes to me today! Life's so much better when the door you come home to every day makes you smile, don'cha think?
