Yaaaay! It was our turn so Peter & I got our first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today! Huge thanks to the incredible frontline workers all across Canada stepping up to run these clinics to vaccinate us all. A very special thank you to Dr. Adcock of the University Health Network who was so calm & caring. The computers had just gone down when we arrived. Seamlessly the incredible teams shifted to paper based and got everyone their shots on time. So grateful. The organization was impeccable, Peter and I were seated at a small ‘bistro’ table then the screener arrived, then the doctor, and then the aftercare team member to make sure after 15’ we were good to go home. Truly impressive.

Today is National #IndigenousLanguages Day, when we celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of Indigenous languages. They are integral to Indigenous culture and identity, and we all have a role to play in supporting Indigenous peoples as they reclaim, revitalize, maintain and strengthen their languages.

Everyone should feel free & safe to be their authentic self at all times and in all places across our country. Let's continue to celebrate our trans, gender non-conforming, and Two-Spirit friends, family & neighbours as we stand against hatred and discrimination together #TransDayOfVisibility

As we approach our virtual Townhall on Persons Day, it is important to discuss the story behind this important commemorative day. It was the Famous Five - Emily Murphy, Nellie McClung, Louise McKinney, Irene Parlby and Henrietta Muir Edwards who pushed forward the expansion of the term persons to include women in 1929 at the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council of Great Britain in London. But our history is complicated. Though it is important we acknowledge this milest...one victory, we must also understand that this decision did not advance equality rights for all women in Canada. In the decades that followed, many inspiring Black, Indigenous, and Women of Colour, worked tirelessly to ensure that women, in all of their diversity, were able to participate equally in all aspects of Canadian life. Every step forward has not been not a step forward for everyone. Please join Karina Gould, Maryam Monsef, Sylvia Maracle, and Paulette Senior at our Townhall on Persons Day on October 18 at 3PM to participate in an important discussion on the work we still have to do in Canada and around the world to achieve gender equality for us. https://bit.ly/34zlV8p

I want to wish everyone in #TOStPauls and across Canada a Happy Thanksgiving! This year will be different as we celebrate together - while apart. We need to heed Public Health guidelines and celebrate virtually with our extended family and friends. #StaySafe #Thanksgiving

It was an honour to be there at St. Michael’s Basilica for the very poignant State Funeral of former Prime Minister, the Right Honourable John Napier Wyndham Turner. I think we all felt so aware that Covid19 restrictions had made the event very different. Only 170 people in the magnificent St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica which would have been filled to its capacity of 1600 people gathering to celebrate the life of this truly great Canadian. We arrived early to make physica...Continue reading

So proud of Minister Jonathan Wilkinson for unveiling our ambitious plan to ban single-use plastics including grocery bags, takeout containers & straws. The Constituency Youth Council (CYC) is important to me because it allows youth 15-24 to provide their priorities in the riding and an important perspective on policy & issues. If you or someone you know in #TOStPauls wants to join, apply at the link in the photo before Oct. 25! https://carolynbennett.libparl.ca/cyc/

More than ever, teachers are stepping up to inspire, empower, and support our kids. As a dad and former teacher myself, I want to say thank you. We’re so grateful for everything you’re doing - as educators, as coaches, and as mentors. #WorldTeachersDay
