"These are the loud lies of infant sleep that our culture repeats from one generation of new mothers to the next, as if on autopilot. The truth is that no matter how many times we repeat these mantras, they’re still bullshit". We need to support mothers and meet them where they are physically and emotionally. We need to stop placing our beliefs, our guilt and lost opportunities on other women. Your experience is not the same as mine, heck I've had four children and each experience was unique, each child was unique and they all had different sleeping patterns. Before you know it you will be yearning for the days and nights you snuggled those babies for hours at a time...the exhaustion ends, and it happens so quickly <3 https://raisedgood.com/sleep-through-night-self-soothing-/

What a beautiful ritual to share with your children. If you nurse baby in your bed that is a great start to laying with your child and having a chat every night. They may not talk back for many months but you are forming that bond for life <3 Slow down and enjoy the quiet moments...

BREASTFEEDING IS A WAY TO IMPROVE WOMEN'S HEALTH! "The longer women breastfeed the more they hear comments suggesting that breastfeeding is depleting their nutrients and contributes to their fatigue. The opposite is true. Continuing breastfeeding is good for female health. Here is one recent example from a study done by Dr. Ramos-Roman (published in Diabetes in August 2020) which discusses ways in which breastfeeding plays a role in protecting women from Type 2 diabetes even ...many years after they have stopped breastfeeding. Breastfeeding changes the insulin sensitivity of organs that supply or demand sugars and fat in the breastfeeding women's bodies. This protects women against insulin resistance not only at the time when they are breastfeeding but long after they have stopped. This study suggests that it is prolactin - the hormone that is involved in breastmilk production - that causes breastfeeding women to have lower levels of fatty acids in their blood and lower amounts of fat in their livers". ~ Dr. Jack Newman

Question: What is/was the most comfortable position for you to Breastfeed? Does your baby have a preference?

A sacred moment with no interruption. I have witnessed this a few times in the 15 years I have been working with families. It is possible within our human population, we just need to trust nature, watch and wait.

There is INCORRECT information circulating that if you are Breastfeeding and contract COVID-19 you should stop Breastfeeding and isolate yourself from baby. This is absolutely INCORRECT! Continue to Breastfeed!!

It is so unfortunate that mothers are scolded, even attacked for doing what is natural. Some of the comments are disgusting and a reflection of the commenters discomfort, not the general population. If a mother chooses to openly feed in public such as this mother, or if they choose to cover, or pump and bottle feed. That is her choice. We don't always have a choice as baby often dictates "how". Each of my children were different. With my first we tried the cover up meth...od. I was a new mom and not comfortable with my own body yet. It worked ok but he eventually wouldn't have anything covering him, he wanted to see me and look around. My second was a struggle for the first 4 months, Posterior Tongue Tie, Lip Tie and a Recessed Jaw, I honestly don't remember feeding in public much, although I know we did, she nursed nearly 2 years. When I had my third I don't think I cared much about what anyone thought and just did what was easiest, it helped we had no real struggles. I was also wanting to role model for other mothers who I knew were experiencing much of the same struggles. Support, Support, Support is what makes Breastfeeding Successful!!!

"Low-calorie sweeteners do not mean low risk for infants: Many people turn to artificial or so-called natural sweeteners to cut calories and lose weight. A new study led by Dr. Raylene Reimer, PhD, published in the high-impact journal Gut discovered that the consumption of low-calorie sweeteners while pregnant increased body fat in their offspring and disrupted their gut microbiota -- the trillions of bacteria and other microorganisms that inhabit the intestinal tract and af...fect our health and risk of numerous diseases.
