Cartwheel Farm 16.12.2020

We have been busy in the fields and in the community. As part of work with our non-farm business, we are supporting the Town of Creston. Council is exploring ways to collect household waste that work better for people and planet. It has been inspiring to see how committed the Town is to taking a service that has been working well for the community and ensuring that it keeps pace with the times. They are contending with challenges like the rising cost of disposing of garbage. ...They are also trying to embrace opportunities like rising opportunities for diverting waste from the Creston Landfill. Curbside collection of kitchen scraps and recycling are both being considered. If you are a Creston resident or property owner, learn more about what could be possible. Take the Town's Curbside Consultation Survey now to help shape the future of local service provision! See more

Some beautiful local food inspiration from the West Kootenays, including from our friends and fellow certified organic growers at Bent Plow Farm and Linden Lane Farms!

The weather is going to be brisk, but on the upside, the vegetables will stay crisp. Come see us at the second last outdoor Farmers' Market of the season! We will have plenty of fresh greens and other veggies to keep you fed this week. Plus, stock up on super sweet onions, squash, and more for the winter!

We strive to make local eating convenient. This season, we have tested different ways to take our delivery service to the next level. We are about to launch a new web store to make things that much easier for you. To help share the news, we have finally added a little colour to our van... and a reminder that you can soon shop online for our certified organic produce! Wave when you see us on our Wednesday home, restaurant, and grocery rounds! Special thanks to Howard at Rook D...esign Media - we felt great about getting the work done locally. We are grateful, too, for funding that helped to make this possible. This project is supported by the BC Government’s Buy BC: EAT DRINK LOCAL Program; delivered by the Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC with funding from the Government of British Columbia. #shoplocal #growbc #buybc

It has been so uplifting to witness and benefit from the myriad ways in which Columbia Basin Trust has invested in regional food security and economic resilience during these unsettled times. We are honoured that the farm is being showcased as a story of hope in the face of COVID-19. We have worked hard to step and serve our community this season. We couldn't have done it without CBT or the incredible people of Creston Valley-Kootenay Lake! #columbiabasinpride #foodsecurity #resilience #newnormal #knowyourgardeners #youngagrarians #certifiedorganic #growbc #buybc #kootenaygrown #crestonvalleydreaming

There are days when we feel especially full-hearted about our home delivery service! This is what week 16 of deliveries looked like for the folks that add extra greens to their orders. Celery, tricolour beans, two pints of cherry tomatoes, sweet Cipollini onions, sweet Italian peppers, carrots, and radishes... plus gorgeous scarlet kale and rainbow chard from our friends at Salix and Sedge in Salmo. #tastetherainbow #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #knowyourgardeners #youngagrarians #certifiedorganic #growbc #buybc #kootenaygrown #crestonvalleydreaming
