Final touches on my Virtual Physio Practice

A 2018 randomized control trial compared 18 patients after an arthroscopic subacromial decompression surgery (shoulder surgery for rotator cuff pain). Patients either completed 12 weeks of telerehab or 12 weeks of standard physiotherapy. The groups were compared at 4, 8, and 12 weeks after surgery. Results showed no statistical significant difference between groups on measures of pain, range of motion, function, and strength. Pastora-Bernal, J. M., Martín-Valero, R., Barón-López, F., Moyano, N. G., & Estebanez-Pérez, M.-J. (2018, Jul). Telerehabilitation after arthroscopic subacromial decompression is effective and not inferior to standard practice: Preliminary results. J Telemed Telecare, 24(6), 428-433.

Emerging research is proving that patients are loving Virtual Physiotherapy. Click the link below to check out this 2020 study which showed the results of 205 patient satisfaction surveys after their telerehab appointment. "Excellent or very good responses were observed for all patient-centered outcome metrics (ranging 93.7-99%). "Value in future telehealth visit" (86.8%) was reported across telerehabilitation visits. https://journals.lww.com//Outpatient_Physical,_Occupationa

Welcome to CARYphysio - my new virtual physiotherapy practice! www.caryphysio.ca At CARYphysio, I provide evidence-based physiotherapy services, but in a much more accessible way. This is help where and when you need it. ... By delivering physiotherapy virtually, I am focusing on an active approach to care (exercise prescription, activity modification, and even self-massage and self-joint mobilization). The goal is to give you the skills to help yourself so you can get back to doing what you love as soon as possible. Emerging research evidence shows virtual physiotherapy works just as well as in-person care for both diagnosis and treatment. That’s been my experience so far, and personally, I think it’s probably even more effective because in a virtual session, we spend all our time on evidence-based, active strategies. No issue is too big or too small. If it’s bugging you, then let’s figure out what’s going on and create a plan to get you feeling better. I’m treating patients from all across Ontario from the comfort of their own homes. Insurance providers now cover virtual physiotherapy so you can use your benefits, and I have a Free Physio Program if money is limiting your ability to access the care you need. If you (or a friend / family member) have an issue you would like to discuss, please email me at [email protected] or you can book online at www.caryphysio.ca. You'll find a lot more information about my practice and virtual physiotherapy in general on my website. I hope you’ll take a look! Strengthen the muscles around your shoulder blade!! This systematic review and meta-analysis found significantly lower pain and significantly higher function with shoulder pain rehab focused on the shoulder blade muscles compared to both alternative treatment approaches and a no treatment control. https://www.tandfonline.com//abs/10./09593985.2018.1423656

Great news Runners! Results showing no association between long term participation in activities like jogging, swimming, cycling, singles tennis, aerobic dance, and skiing with developing knee arthritis. In fact, participating in these activities at low to moderate intensities (about 1-2 hours, 2-3x/week) seems to provide a protective association with knee arthritis
