On the surface it’s just a plain old notebook in a random kitchen drawer. But at Casa de Luz this grocery list is the starting point of making sure children, youth and entire families have the food they need each day. Check your email this morning to find some information about how you can be a part of it!
Children living in poverty don’t often have access to quality healthcare, so when immune systems are weakened from malnutrition it can have devastating effects. At Casa de Luz we are working to fight against childhood malnutrition with medical care, healthy food, and education surrounding nutrition. Your support allows each of these to happen!
It’s important to us not to assume we know what families need, but to ask questions and really listen. We asked each family we walk alongside in Primo Tapia what their greatest needs were in this time of COVID-19. The top answers were:... 1. Emotional support 2. Food and Groceries 3. Care for children You have made each of these possible in the past year! Thank you! See more
Because of you children are growing and developing in healthy ways. Isn’t it amazing to see?
When people trust in the Lord and do what is asked of them the coolest stories emerge. A woman from Saskatchewan had a dream. One that connected our jewelry makers in Primo Tapia to youth in Saskatoon. She was the bridge who prayed, organized, fundraised, employed our team on the ground and then blessed 1,200 teens with one of our word necklaces that had been hand-stamped and prayed over.... This was the sweet moment that all the pieces came together and these women met with tears and talked about what they’d accomplished together for the glory of God! This is the power of relationship in missions and something we value so highly at Casa de Luz. See more
One year ago today was when Casa de Luz programming closed for 5 long months. But can I tell you what the teens in our Youth Program did? They came together each bringing something and put together boxes of food for others in the community, distributing this relief to them and praying for them.... Despite a global pandemic, the Lord was working in so many ways - one of which was through a group of teenagers giving back. This is what breaking cycles of despair looks like. It’s being grateful, it’s sharing what you have, and reaching out to offer others the hope you have found!
