This is part of a prayer from Peter Scazzero's devotional book, "Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day: A 40-day Journey with the Daily Office". This quote reflects God's goodness and love despite difficulties, failures, and sorrows of the past and the present. It is a reminder that no matter what you are going through right now, God is preparing you for so much more. The confusion or uncertainty of today will eventually become made clear, and you'll look back and recognize the significance of what happened. #quoteoftheweek #wegotyou #yougotthis #godhasyou #mondaymorning #beblessed #cascadeschurch PC: Marco Tjokro

ON MISSION IN... La Paz, Bolivia // Next up in our series on the people of Cascades and our affiliates: Jurgen and Wendy Schulz and family whose work in Bolivia Cascades helps to support. Their ministry in brief: Jurgen teaches at a Bible Institute in La Paz and has a teaching ministry in the assemblies. Wendy is active in a prison outreach and teaching the Word to women. How they sensed a call to serve overseas: Wendy and Jurgen grew up in Christian ...families and came to Christ at an early age. Jurgen ran a printing company in Victoria before selling it in 1977 to help set up a Gospel press in Bolivia. Wendy studied at Mt. Carmel Bible School before marrying Jurgen in 1982. After continuing his studies at Regent College, Jurgen helped plant a church in Bolivia and start up a Christian school and was also involved in discipling and, more recently, teaching at different Bible schools. How God has changed the lives of the inmates Wendy works with: The whole atmosphere in the prison has changed for the better. Inmates who were indifferent to spiritual things are now daily giving thanks for the food that God is providing. Some of them, when problems arise, are now saying, ‘We need to pray!’ What does the next one year look like? What about the next five years? As of 2018, we have been dedicating six months of ministry to La Paz and six months serving in other areas. Health and strength permitting, we expect to continue this involvement for a few more years. Fun fact: Both Wendy and Jurgen enjoy coffee and dark chocolate . . . . . . . . ______________ #onmission #missions #missionaries #lapaz #bolivia #cascadeschurch #churchonboundary #churchinvancouver #yvrchurches See more

ON MISSION IN... San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. // We’re excited to introduce the first of our On Mission stories featuring Cascaders and their affiliates living out their faith in big or small ways and making a difference in their communities. Today, we introduce the Antignani familyJoe, Loredana, Joshua and Celeste, who are serving as missionaries in Italy. Joe grew up in Castlegar, BC but looked to his Italian heritage to find his calling. Cascades is pleased t...o be among the churches supporting Joe in his work overseas. Q: How were you called? A: I had a strong desire to serve our Lord which brought me to seek my Italian roots in Italy, where I saw that there was a great need. I enrolled in the 3-year program at the bible school in Rome, where I met my wife Loredana, and the Lord opened the way for us to serve in Italy. - Joe Q: What is challenging about their work? A: The Antignanis sense they are in a hot spot for spiritual warfare due to the amount of idolatry practised in the city. Many people make a living directly from religious tourism and are forced to remain loyal to their saint Padre Pio. Q: What are the challenges of serving in the church? A: They look to help assemblies in decline and are consequently losing their youth. The two largest evangelical movements in Italy are reportedly fairly legalistic. "We believe this is one of the reasons why we have a lower percentage of believers than Russia, China, India or Indonesia. This work of renewal therefore is of vital importance for Italy. Joe Q: What does the next year look like? What about the next 5 years? A: We see our work of implementing discipleship programs as essential for new believers and also for those who have not ever participated. This foundation is required for personal growth and to help avoid unbalanced biblical views and to create a church reality that is driven to serve the community. In the next five years we look to, Lord willing, lead friends and long-time contacts to the Lord, and help other assemblies open up. ___ Watch for more stories from our On Mission series in the coming weeks.
