IPL is broadband pulsed light source that enters the skin and is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair shaft., whereas laser is a monochromatic coherent light source. Both methods target the melanin in the hair follicle and permanent results can be expected from both.... Laser has a higher intensity light beam which targets the hair follicle more aggressively and is also expensive to generate, and so, in some salons who offer laser specific treatment comes with a hefty price tag.
