As we remember the candles we lit with our wishes for hope, peace, joy and love, tonight we remember the light that came in Jesus Christ. May you be blessed in the New Year and a blessing to all you meet. People around the world will place lighted candles or lamps in their windows tonight as a sign that we all stand together.

We have also received an invitation from Sydenham Street United Church. Here is information about their Christmas Eve service. Dear Friends, A Message to the Congregation and Friends of Sydenham Street United Church ... December 22nd, 2020 The SSUC Executive Committee met today to discuss the provincial Covid-19 lockdown ordered yesterday by the government of Ontario. The Committee decided that it is important that our church comply with the spirit of the government directive, recognizing the medical urgency throughout the province, and as the Minister of Health, Christine Elliott, has urged, behaving as if the lockdown has already begun. So, the Executive has decided that the Sydenham Street United Church Christmas Eve Carol Service will be online, available from the website link to Youtube, beginning at 7:30 pm December 24th. There will also be a Coffee Time virtual gathering on December 24th, beginning at 7 pm. The Zoom link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83744695141

Morning Prayer, Oct.8, 2020 Loving God, Autumn wind and rains reap piles of orange leaves,... toss birds into migratory flights, whistle and roar around corners down alleys and through fields, push into doorways and waken us to a more focussed state of being, alert to seasonal changes that happen whether we will or no. We have wrestled for months now, anxious and stressed by Covid and isolation and economic worries, concerned about politics and health, education and travel, limitations to socializing and shopping and seeing each other when we want. We are tired, God, and we need to feel your presence with us, sustaining us. As we move into deepest fall, may we learn to pace ourselves, prepare for the winter ahead, look to ways to connect safely, support generously, toil selflessly, worship diligently, and put our faith into actions that work for the good of your earth and all its creatures, knowing that we are not alone. Amen. Anne MacDermaid, October 8, 2020.

We are invited to join Rev Phil Wilson and the East Camden Pastoral Charge for their worship at Riverside tomorrow morning. Thank-you! Worship for Sept 27 As you all may recall, one commitment the Transition Team made was to stream worship service as they are happening.... As a test and I stress TEST. I am going to stream from Riverside tomorrow morning. My plan will be to stream from Zoom to YouTube and perhaps our Facebook page as well. I want to stress....this is only a test and it may not work as smoothly as I intend. For those who are comfortable with Zoom, click this link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82368806130 You will be able to join the link just before 9:30 tomorrow morning. I will send along a second newsletter tomorrow morning just before 9:30 that will also allow you to watch via YouTube, either as it is happening live OR after the service concludes.

JEAN FRASER We are sad to announce the Passing of Jean Fraser on Thursday, August 6th. This is a great loss to her family and to her church family at Cataraqui. Jean was loved by all those who knew her and she was a devoted member of Cataraqui United Church. We will all miss her cheerful manner and willingness to always lend a hand. As a greeter at the door on Sundays, she made everybody feel welcome. She kept track of both celebrations and losses in the congregation and ...always had cards ready to send. Jean was involved in so many activities in the church from serving on committees to baking pies. She enjoyed a good joke and a game of Euchre. We will miss her laughter. Jean's family and friends will be remembered in our prayers.. See more

Morning Prayer, August 8, 2020. Loving God, We are still in the midst of summer, in the midst of new routines and ... confusion as we try to settle ourselves, deal with safety precautions, isolation, loneliness, wakefulness, and all the other ancillary symptoms of being in the Covid pandemic. We are creatures of habit, God, and we yearn to return to the tried and true, the familiar and the comfortable. Help us to use our unease to craft more generous ways of being, more considerate care for others, more thoughtful approaches to problems. Help us to see in safety precautions concern for our brothers and sisters, in isolation times to meditate and pray, in loneliness awareness of those who are lonely, in wakefulness opportunities to seek the sense of your presence, that we may be strengthened to carry on, a day at a time, doing your good work in this world. We ask this knowing that we are not alone. Amen. Moira Anne MacDermaid August 8, 2020.
