Time 2 Catch Up - There are no words that could express our gratitude for each one of you and the support we've received amidst all of life's changes this year. In this past year, we closed our doors and pivoted to virtual online services, re-opened our doors to a new world of COVID protocols, collaborated with community partners to launch a province wide concussion program, added a kinesiology department, said goodbye to some of our original team members, welcomed a litter ...of new ones, and got the best pumpkin surprise from our dynamic duo of Becca and Selena. Thank you all for an unforgettable year 2! https://mailchi.mp/cf5618864a0a/time-2-catch-up

Feature Fridays: Alli Stevens, BKin Alli completed her Bachelor’s of Kinesiology at The University of British Columbia. During her university years, Alli volunteered at Neuromotion Physiotherapy Rehabilitation, assisting clients with neurological and spinal cord injuries. She was also on the SISU UBC leadership team, which organizes inclusive and accessible fitness events to women at UBC while striving to create community on campus. Growing up as a gymnast and coach, Alli app...reciates the foundations of movement and form that her own training in gymnastics and coaching experience has taught her. Alli has a special interest in injury rehabilitation, post-concussion clients, and senior’s preventative health. When she’s not in the clinic, you can find Alli on a yoga mat or spin bike, exploring the west coast with friends, or on the search for the next best flat white. We are grateful to have this gem with us at #catchwellness.

Oh how we missed seeing these big full cheeked smiles in the clinic. Do you know of any senior who would benefit from some active TLC? Our physios can help catch issues caused by loss of balance, dizziness, arthritis, general weakness and frailty. We offer in-person one-on-one one visits for gait retraining, strengthening, and arthritis education. The music is always dialed into their favourite tunes and MSP rates are applicable for these visits!

Ya heard? Don't be deterred! Although we're all for the record spining right round right round here at #catchwellness, vertigo can be quite debilitating and we want you to know that this is a commonly treatable condition by certified physios. Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), the sudden sensation that you're spinning and losing your balance, is caused by the displacement of crystals in your inner ear. It can commonly occur after a head trauma ie.concussion, spor...ts injury, car accident and is also the leading cause of falls in the aging population over 60. So spread the word that Erin Gibb will be 'ear' ready to settle those dancing crystals.

Feature Friday: Derek Lai, MPT, BScKIN. He completed his physiotherapy degree in 2015 at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. He's a big believer in benefits of challenging the body through movement and exercise. In conjunction with manual therapy and dry needling, Derek believes in providing evidence-based education in order to help clients understand their bodies and gu...ide them on their journey back to optimal health and performance. In his spare time, Derek enjoys trekking mountains, trail running, reading and repeated doses of caffeine. He is a passionate traveler who is always planning his next adventure locally and abroad. We can't wait for Derek to elevate our palettes here at #catchwellness. He's really all that and a bag of chips.
