As far as cotton thread goes King Tut really is a cut above the rest performance wise, and the colors are gorgeous!
Some end of summer Inspiration!
Time for Georges monthly clean! When was the last time your sewing machine had a check up?

New Month, New Goals! What quilting goals have you set for yourself this month? Post them below
I had the honor of quilting a memory quilt made from the clothes of a deceased loved one. There is something indescribable about the experience. I used these beautiful threads to blend across all the clothes. King Tut - tiny tuts.
Outer Border. When you want to create texture you choose threads that match the fabric. I chose to have a little of both, for it to show yet be hidden. I went with Ginger Spice, it matches the fabric of the border well, and the fabric used in the blocks. Bump back feathers and curls, but only half - frames the quilt nicely and draws the eye inward.
Sashing. I decided that I did not want the pattern to come into contact with the blocks so I curled the line off at each end. More stops and starts...but pleasing to the eye.
I love my stash....especially when it has all the required awesomeness to create a new masterpiece! Share your stash busting creations below....
I am still taking quilts for quilting. Pandemic precautions: when quilts arrive they go in a holding area for a few days. Once the wait is over George and I get to work. Great news I am just about caught up in my queue! Call 506-386-8592 to book your consult/drop off
Here is an attempt at filming some quilting...work in progress
Here are a few of the other completed blocks. These 2 blocks are on opposite sides of the quilt, and are the same block (but with negative space reversed). I did the same pattern with modifications, this helps to balance the quilt out.
Behind the scenes job...well worth the time! When I started, learning to free motion quilt, my mentor told me that show quilts weave in the ends of all their threads by hand, and she taught me how. I decided then and there I want all my quilts, show or not, to have this top quality work done. No one will ever see, the sometimes hours that go into thread weaving, but I know it was well worth the time I invested in my customers masterpiece. :)
Last year I had a number of beautifully hand appliqued quilts. So when I came across this ruler I thought awesome....then once it arrive I did not have any quilts to use it on....TILL NOW! AWESOME! Look how nicely I can echo the leaves of this applique. This ruler, Lotus Lines, was created by Bethanne Nemesh to help stitch in the ditch around applique. So exciting to get use my stash! #bethannenemesh
Before I get started (it affects thread choices as well), I decide on quilting designs. Based on colours, and patterns the customer and I decided a more traditional feel, small modern twists. So we went with feathers, diamonds, curls, using white thread to add texture. It will be a bit more densely quilted by request. God has blessed me with the ability to draw and redraw in my brain, which is really handy in quilting, but sometimes I like to audition my thoughts life sized. Here with the pin wheels I wanted to create movement, like a spinning pinwheel, so the feathers spiral out from the center.
So this is exciting news. I was accepted as a teacher for the Embroidery Association of Canada 2021 Seminar: Magical Mysteries. I am teaching a 4-day course Mandala: Sketch to Stitch. Its going to be fun.... :)
I have permission to show this quilt, so I will take you on a "behind the sceness tour". Once I choose threads. I prep/anchor the quilt by stitching in the ditch around each of the blocks and borders. Doing this at the start helps to keep the quilt flat and square as I add more intricate work. For the base stitching in the ditch I used my Garden Lines ruler by Bethanne Nemesh of White Arbor Quilting.
I love choosing threads for quilts...I get to play in my stash. Looking at and using my quilting threads brings me JOY! What brings you joy about quilting? (I know its hard to chose just one ;) )
Choosing thread for a Gold Sampler, it was a Pinwheel challenge. I chose a 50 weight to stitch in the ditch, this finer weight will help the stitches hide nicely in the seams. I then chose a 60 weight for the bobbin thread....perfect matches.
I love the possibilities of Free Motion Quilting.....No Limits!
Free Hand Feather block...
Here Im using my Lilac Lines ruler by Bethanne Nemesh of White Arbor Quilting, to stitch in the ditch....ditch work really makes the piecing pop.
After every quilting session George, my APQS machine gets a good cleaning. My favorite for dust is my Norwex dusting mitt....its AMAZING how much dust it will pick up, and it make quick work of the job too!
When I became a quilter I also became the worlds best secret keeper too. A lot of the quilts I quilt are gifts....and I dont want to spoil any surprises. That being said, Im working on a beautiful Christmas gift this week....Shhh its a secret. But here are a few of the gorgeous threads Im using.
Have you created a beautiful quilt and would like to make matching pillow shams? I can quilt those for you, with size appropriate designs.
I quilt on a sit down machine. All patterns are hand guided by moving the fabric underneath the needle. This means patterns are only limited by our imagination and what I can draw!
I also helped to re-purpose the Mickey panel. It will be amazing once they have assembled the pieces.
My name is Veronique Gaudet, I have drawn and sewed my entire life. Free Motion Quilting was a natural progression for my passions.
I helped to give new life to a clients much loved comforter. I double batted it to give it loft, some quilting done with love and Donald Duck really pops! It is going to be made into a pillow cover.
