On November 23rd, in partnership with Cathedral Arts, the Cantata Singers of Ottawa present Britten’s St. Nicolas by Candlelight, featuring Benjamin Britten’s St. Nicolas cantata. The extraordinary cantata, orchestrated for choir, soloist, organ, piano, percussion, and strings, tells the story of the fourth-century bishop whose generosity inspired the legend of Santa Claus. In this special performance at Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa, Canadian tenor Nils Brown sings the role of Nicolas. Along with the Cantata Singers, boys and girls of the Cathedral Choirs, and members of the Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy led by a professional string quintet join in.
