In 2013, $1-million in public money was lent, through the Sask Party government’s First Nations & Metis Fund, to a non-indigenous, Estevan-based oilfield business. Just a year after defaulting on this publicly-funded loan, this same business-owner was heartily congratulated by Brad Wall (from the floor of the Saskatchewan Legislature!) for buying one of the most expensive sportscars in Canada. As of 2018-19, not one penny has been returned to the people of Saskatchewan. This... is just one example for which we’re looking for answers. Millions upon millions of Saskatchewan-taxpayers’ dollars money that could have funded education, healthcare or green technology - are gone. It’s unfortunate that Mr. Kook dismisses our concerns as politics. We are simply looking to understand the decisions he was paid millions of public dollars to make. Regardless, Prince Albert MLA Joe Hargrave, the Minister ultimately responsible for this mess, will be forced to answer for not just the above example, but many, many more. https://thestarphoenix.com//westcap-fund-manager-defends-l See more

Earlier this week Hugh Nerlien, perennial Sask Party-backbencher, went off on a tangent in the Legislature that left jaws dropped, at least on our side of the floor. In what was supposed to be a response to the Saskatchewan government’s Throne Speech, Nerlien stood up and proudly denied climate change, using words like ad nauseam and delusional while openly mocking climate change science and scientists. From there he segued into immigration, blaming minorities and their ...religion, race and greed and political will for global conflict. He ranted about political correctness, claiming it suppresses the voices of the silent majority. In fact, Nerlien moaned repeatedly in his speech about the plight of the silent majority - a favorite term of Donald Trump's and one commonly considered a racially-coded reference to white people, or the white majority. It was a shocking spectacle to witness in our provincial Legislature. I gave Scott Moe a few days to decry these words from his caucus member, but he has not. Does the Premier of Saskatchewan support this kind of thinly-veiled-racism and climate change denial in his caucus? If he does not, why has Moe allowed his MLAs words to remain unchecked? The people of Kelvington-Wadena deserve better from their elected representative. The people of Saskatchewan deserve better from their Premier. You can contact Hugh Nerlien with your thoughts on his speech at 306-278-2200 or [email protected]. Please Share this post to shine a light on this dark corner of Legislative history. You can read Nerlien's entire speech, beginning on pg 6104, here: http://docs.legassembly.sk.ca//Han/28L4S/191028Debates.pdf See more

Look up the definition of passing the buck and you’ll get a picture of these ridiculous statements Don Morgan made to the Star Phoenix. Morgan said he doesn’t know the price Colliers will put on the facility, nor whether it will sell it as one unit or break it up into parcels. The GTH is open to foreign ownership if the right opportunity arises, he added. He was unable to provide an approximation of how much the government is looking to get from the sale. As if they haven...’t been irresponsible enough with the GTH, losing tens millions of dollars just to line the pockets of their friends and donors, it’s unbelievable that the Minister responsible for the GTH would casually toss responsibility over to the private sector. This means the Sask Party government is not only refusing to clean up their own mess, but are now covering it up completely. Today I am calling on Don Morgan and Scott Moe to commit to complete transparency regarding their liquidation of the GTH. They owe this to the people of Saskatchewan, who have already been let down by their government’s shady land deals and years of jaw-dropping mismanagement. As your Opposition critic for the GTH, I won’t stop until Don Morgan and the Sask Party government quit pointing fingers and start giving us all the clear, honest answers we deserve. https://thestarphoenix.com//colliers-taking-over-gth-opera

The damage this government has inflicted on the education system is hurting students and driving teachers away from the profession. So wrong!

In its recently-released annual report, one fact regarding SaskWater emerged clearly: its biggest asset is its people. What’s less clear, however, is how these employees are being used in relation to SaskWater’s mandate, which appears to need significant review. For example, why is SaskWater managing the decommissioning of non-compliant northern-Saskatchewan solid waste landfills (garbage dumps), and their subsequent rebuilds? Why is SaskWater completing and submitting to th...e Ministry of Environment the important technical assessments for privately-owned potash corporations wanting to set up in our province? These are two examples of SaskWater-led projects that have nothing to do with water supply, and in its 2018-19 annual report, the company itself couldn’t even seem to reconcile why they have taken them on, though it appears that if they had not, SaskWater would have lost money last year. Minister Bronwyn Eyre needs to explain the lack of focus, and potentially, viability, of SaskWater, as well as what she’s going to do about it, so this important Crown corporation can continue to contribute to our province’s economy and quality of life. I intend to hold her to account and look forward to her explanation. https://www.saskwater.com//SWAnnualReport_2018_2019_-_FINA

"Public debate is why the GTH couldn’t sell one square inch of land after engaging with 225 potential customers last year? This is the cause of its failure to not only meet its target of $7.7 million in land sales but not sell any land at all and see its debt increase by $4 million to $44 million?"

This Facebook page is a place for spirited, healthy debate. If you don't agree with me on an issue, or my party or our supporters, please don't hesitate to leave your thoughts and engage in discussion in a way that is both thoughtful and respectful and free from extremism. A few people don't seem to understand that, however, and this their one warning - another comment in the tone described here and you will be welcomed to take that brand of dialogue elsewhere, because you don't have the automatic right to share it here. Thanks everyone.
