Pelvic floor weakness is one of the most common health issue among females. It is shocking that it can cause serious pain in hips and knees which most women ...complain of especially as they age. In fact, pregnancy is also linked with this problem in some cases. As one keeps popping pills to counter pain and other symptoms, the problem can remain undiagnosed for many years. In our latest podcast episode, Cathy Watson, a pelvic floor expert and physiotherapist, shares the causes, symptoms and treatment of pelvic floor weakness at any stage of life. This is a must listen for any women out there struggling with pelvic floor weakness. Kudos to all the hard work by researchers Tom Goom @running.physio, Grainne Donnelly @absolute.physio and Emma Brockwell @physiomumuk for publishing the "Return...ing to running postnatal-Guidelines for medical, health and fitness professionals managing this population, Mar. 2019". This research highlights the need for getting a pelvic floor assessment from a pelvic floor physio to ensure the pelvic floor muscles and pelvis can manage the impact of running. Generally the researchers recommend NOT starting running until 12 weeks postpartum. The postnatal graphics recently published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine @bjsm_bmj offer clear and SAFE guidelines for how to progress running postpartum. Previous to this research there were no clear guidelines for health and fitness professionals on how to treat women that wanted to return to running and how to PREVENT pelvic floor dysfunction such as prolapse and incontinence. Call 250-717-7701 for a pelvic floor physio assessment to see if you are safe to return to running. I use the protocol outlined in this research to asses all my female patients that are keen to run. #karephysio#pelvicfloorpower #running.physio #absolute.physio #physiomumuk #postpartumbody #postnatalfitness #runnermom #pelvicphysio #postpartumfitness #prolapse #episiotomy #incontinence #pelvicpain #pubicpain #diastasisrecti #corestrengthening #pelvicfloor #pelvicpt #pelvicpain #kelownafitness #kelownarunningclub #crossfitgirls #crossfit #okanaganlife #kelownanow #trailrun

Thank you for sharing this Carla Brunelle #VernonBC and area friends. Stay #home. Make a grocery list and only go once a week. Avoid public places at all costs.... Save yourself, family and friends. Show you care by doing this. PLEASE!!!! Announcement from OUR local hospital: ***Update: I have been informed that Silping is NOT a Doctor, she is a Nurse whose spouse is an ER Doctor.*** Silping Wong RN at VJH. Hi Everyone, I just want to let you know that we are in a very serious situation with COVID. It is going to be a tough next few weeks and Im urging you all to lock it down and not live life as you normally do. The hospital and Emergency Department is going to be a much different service than it has been in the past. They are amping up for what is going to hit us like a tidal wave. I know that this is very surreal and that some are thinking, Im healthy,.. I wont get sick. If I get sick, it wont be that bad. Its the older population that is going to have it the worst, but the really serious situation that no one is talking about is that, if all the older population gets sick and ties up our emergency department, beds and ventilators, what happens when our kid has a ruptured appendix,.. what happens when some 20 year old gets into a car accident and needs to be intubated,.. what happens when we break our femur and need an urgent operation, NOTHING,.. because all the ventilators are being utilized by the population that are admitted to hospital from COVID. It isnt COVID we need to worry about, it is the shutting down of our hospital services that will get bogged down by this. Please, please, I urge you to be very diligent: go outside and enjoy the outdoors( but away from others), stay away from social gatherings, stay at home except to get food, medicine and gas, What else do we really, really need to be doing besides preserve our population Please pass this on to others, as I am not on any social media, but want to get the message out to the community that doesnt understand what is coming. I wish I had sent this out a week ago, but I assumed that everyone else knew.

New petition! http://chng.it/GjpkjPmM Our first project is to assist Rita Bos, Senior Director of the Vernon Heronry Protection Society. She and her late husban...d spent years advocating for the protection of a tiny piece of land where the Blue Herons nest. There is currently an application by Scotland Constructors Ltd to build apartments in a Blue Heron nesting area. The area is a protected bird sanctuary where other wildlife, including deer also rest within the city. The area is located in the open field at 5204-20th Street, Vernon, B.C. ( adjacent to your proposed construction site. ) this acreage is occupied by the blue listed Great Blue Heron. According to the Vernon Heronry Protection Society, a registered restrictive covenant was agreed upon by the Regional District of the North Okanagan signed by RDNO and Jan boss, July of 1992 ( see photo of letter for more info ). A notice from the city states: There will be an Official Public Hearing for rezoning on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber 3400-30th St. In order for council to receive public input regarding proposed rezoning amendment bylaw #5760 Which proposes to re-zone Lot A, Plan 20774, sec 11, TWP 8, ODYD (5000-20th Street) from A3: Rural-Small Holdings to RH1: Low-Rise Apartment Residential in order to allow a multi-family residential development on the site. Should you deem your interest in property affected by the subject application, it would be to your advantage to attend the public hearing at which time you will be permitted to outline your concerns for the information of counsel. If you are unable to attend, you may appoint an agent to act on your behalf, or a written or email ([email protected]) submission is acceptable provided it is in the hands of the corporate officer prior to the hearing. Any submissions received after 3:00 PM on Monday, July 8, 2019 related to the rezoning application will not be accepted. Correspondence and emails must include your name and civic address no submissions related to the rezoning application will be received by counsel following conclusion of the official public hearing. Yours truly, Carie Liefke, Planning Assistant Dear Vernon Residents and concerned citizens from other communities, please write an email before Monday July 8 th or come to the meeting to help save the last of the Blue Herons in the tiny piece of forest left in the city of Vernon. Your words do not need to be fancy although they could be, but a heartfelt, quick message of concern is very helpful. Thankyou, Shasta Daisy "We are providing actual, fact based information so that the City of Vernon/Scotland Constructors Ltd. can make rational, responsible decisions in regards to protecting the Great Blue Heron Sanctuary." Rita Bos, Senior Director, Vernon Heronry Protection Society. Hey Folks! I just re added all the photos that for some reason were deleted from my post last night! Sorry for any confusion!

Take Care Of Your Groin! - One of my biggest priorities within training programs for strength development is that we never neglect the little... things that keep us strong and healthy. - While we love to hit the big lifts hard and work towards new PRs, accessory movements for our shoulders, hips, core, etc always have a place and thats why we see so much success with the athletes we work with. - The Copenhagen plank is a fantastic drill to address adductor strength while also hitting the core and hip muscles hard. Its just one example of how we take care of the little guys in our online training program Champion STRONGER, which JUST re-opened for enrollment! - When you enroll youll get: A complete 4x/week Strength Training Program Two bonus training options for conditioning and hypertrophy Detailed educational information on pain and modifications for training Individualized coaching from Dan and I An incredible training community filled with people looking to crush their training, just like you - Dont miss out! All postpartum women, whether elite athlete or not, should rehabilitate their pelvic floor and core muscles. Melissa Bishop talks to the Montreal Gazette abou...t her return to running postpartum and the focus she put on her pelvic floor, starting with the Mommy Berries online program. It is great to see this message making its way out thanks to woman like @melissacorinneb who are willing to share their stories. Mommy Berries believes its important for postpartum moms to take a proactive approach and begin with simple considerations as early as day one to start you off on the right track. For more details on Melissas journey through the Mommy Berries program, check out the blog post on my website called The Postpartum Athlete. Best of luck to Melissa in Tokyo 2020!
