Dear Clients, I am sure that you all have learned by now about the Covid-19 virus infection. We all have concerns about our pets. So many people turned to me with their concerning questions that I decided to write these few lines to ease our worries. 1. First of all, I have not showed any symptoms of cough or fever so far and have not travelled outside of Alberta or Canada for a long time and have not met any other people who are ill of Covid-19. 2. I am still providing hous...e call feline only services in Calgary, if there is a need for it. I would like to limit the my visits to patients who are ill and in need of medical treatment. 3. If you may have any concerns or just need a medical advise please do not hesitate to contact me either by email: [email protected]; phone or text: 403-607-8321. There would be no charge. 4. I pay a great attention to avoid infection by myself and protect my patients/owners from potential contamination so I may wear a face mask N-95 and, gloves (if it is requested) for the appointment. I disinfect my examination instruments before every visit. 5. I am also monitoring the Covid-19 infection potential spread to pets by reading number of different international veterinary official sites and blogs. At this time there is no proven transmission of Covid-19 infection from humans to cats, dogs or vice versa. There is a report from Hong Kong, where two dogs have been tested weak positive for coronavirus, but they did not get sick. That is a very good news. 6. I would like to bring to your attention that in the near future we may expect drug shortages. To avoid this, I have placed a large order for drugs and food. I would like to ask every and each of my clients please check on your pet’s medical supplies and make sure it will last for 1-2 months. If you need help with calculation please let me know and I would be happy to help you. If you are in need of any medication or supplies, please contact me as soon as you can. Few of my advises: 1. We need to stay calm. 2. Stress decreases the immune system effectiveness. 3. If we are calm we can make decision for our pets. 4. If stay calm and healthy we will be able to look after our pets. 5. Think like a surgeon in a surgery room. Touch things only if you are sure it is clean. 6. Wear a mask if unsure. If you have no access to a face mask here is a link how to make you own at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNjpH5lBZ8w Dr Stephan Porostocky 403-607-8321 [email protected]
