At the height of #COVID-19 response, 1.6 billion children were out of school. Even though so many schools have reopened, UNICEF is projecting that at least 24 million students will never return to school. In rural communities in West Africa and Central America, we are working to have a positive impact on #education for the most vulnerable students.

Did you know CAUSE Canada has active programming in Alberta? The Development Education in Canada program focuses on offering workshops that enable Canadian students to learn about poverty in the developing world and what they can do to make a difference.

Adolescent pregnancy, child marriage, and maternal mortality are intrinsically linked. Did you know that 90% of adolescent pregnancies in the developing world is are among girls who are already married? According to Girls Not Brides, complications in pregnancy and childbirth are the leading cause of death in girls aged 15-19. Child marriage does not have a simple solution. At its heart is poverty and gender inequality. We are excited to be starting innovative work to reduce child marriage in Sierra Leone.

How many kids are out of school internationally? This past spring, 84% of all children everywhere in the world, were out-of-school because of school closures due to #COVID-19. Even now, 33% of kids globally are still out-of-school because of school closures. Consider sponsoring a child or give a gift to help support children to have access to educational resources now and to go back to school when it is safe again.
