Cavalier on the Creek

Quarantine project in Canada! The American husband is on Canadian soil. We have 14 days of quarantine and currently on day 8. So instead of the American working on Cavalier I have put him to work on my house in Starbuck, Manitoba. He’s doing a great job! So we wanted to do a project together and we had no access to any new materials or supplies as we can’t leave our yard, so we made do with things we had... old pallets. The inspiration came awhile back and I knew... we had to make some fun shutters for the front of the house to add some character. I used something I have never used before to stain the shutters, I’m sure a lot of you know about pine tar, commonly used on the farm. It makes a wonderful colouring for staining! I will definitely use this more often for my exterior projects. Can you spot THE AMERICAN ? Comment below PS... We have decided on a colour for the exterior, it’s going to be a big shocker! The American and Canadian tied the knot on July 3rd! We thought it was appropriate in between Canada Day and Independence Day. Stay tuned for the progress the American has made on house... so much to show you!

Happy Sunday y’all! Well we have been busy and I’ve been slacking on the posts. Working 10-12 hours a day myself at my day job. Wish I was in Cavalier helping the American . We decided since the walls were all textured it would be a lot of work to replace them or scrape them. Solution ship lap look... plywood cut down into strips. Voila! The wood will be painted. Also we added character to the windows with trim... it! This plus so much more yet to share. ... Just wanted to catch you all up on a couple things. More to come! See more
