The guidance department would like to wish parents, staff and students a great and safe summer vacation! I would like to introduce myself, Ann Smith, and having recently accepted the position of Head of Guidance, one my most pleasant, yet at the same time very difficult tasks, is to wish Mr. John Drynan a very happy and well-deserved retirement. John has touched the lives of countless students and staff during his 20 years at CSS. John has always gone above and beyond for h...is students, showing them empathy, dedication and insight while guiding numerous young people towards meaningful and productive post secondary pathways. John has been instrumental in making sure our students reach their best potential, both academically and personally as well. CSS was truly lucky to have such a wonderful leader and friend. Mr. Drynan you will be very missed, and we wish you all the best! It is with pleasure that I welcome a new counsellor to the Guidance Department, Mr. Derek Morrison will be joining our team first semester in the mornings. This school semester has been an interesting one to say the least. Congratulations to everyone for putting forth your best efforts during the past few months of e-learning and social distancing. Although at times, it may have seemed very trying, we would like to thank you for doing your best and for your perseverance and patience. A very special and heartfelt congratulations to all our graduating class of 2020. We made it!!!! As this school year comes to a close, we are wrapping things up with scheduling for the new school year. Having said that, there is still a great deal of uncertainty as to what the 2020-2021 school year may look like. The Ontario Government has suggested a few different models of learning for the fall but my best advice at this point is to check the GEDSB website in August, as well as to stay updated through reliable Ontario news sources. If there are other concerns that you may have during the summer months, please feel free to email me at [email protected] and hopefully we can work through them during the summer. Students who are taking a summer school course and need marks sent to college or university need to make me aware as soon as a mark is received to ensure post-secondary enrollment in September. All other summer school concerns will have to be directed to them (access www.granderie.ca for more information). See more
