Bear hunting regulations in Moose Management Zones 2 and 3 (described in detail under N.S Reg. 90/88) are being changed. As of June 19th, 2020, the possession or use of rifles, shotguns, or muzzleloaders will be prohibited from Monday, September 14, 2020 to Saturday, October 10, 2020 in Moose Management Zones 2 and 3. This decision was made by The Honourable Ian Rankin through a ministerial order under subsection 21(1) of the Wildlife Act. This action was taken to improve moose management in these areas. Bear hunting may still be conducted by trapping, snaring, bow and crossbow in these areas. Any person who contravenes this order may be liable to prosecution under subsection 21(3) of the Wildlife Act.
Awesome day Relaxing at the Ocean!!
Update: Louisbourg Lighthouse Coastal Trail will open Monday June 01. Please note the Signage in the Lighthouse Parking lot referring to social distancing..2 me...tre distancing regulations still applies along with all other covid-19 restrictions that are in place now. There will be hourly patrols of the lighthouse parking lot to assess whether people are practicing the social distancing restrictions. Should this assessment find that covid-19 restrictions are not being followed, then the road to the Louisbourg Lighthouse Trail will be closed to the public again. These regulations will be policed by you, the users of the trail and lighthouse area parking lot. Please ensure we can continue to enjoy our trail. Thank you. The barrier on highway 22 at Fortress Louisbourg will be removed on Monday as part of phase one opening of Fortress Louisbourg. The main site at Fortress Louisbourg will remain closed at this time. Have a great day....and enjoy the trail when it opens next week.

There is additional info on the bottom of this post.... folks The following press release went out last night at 6pm; > FISHERIES/AQUACULTURE--Sportfishing Season Delayed until May 1 > ----------------------------------------------------------------... > Nova Scotia's sportfishing season is on hold until at least May 1. > > The season normally begins on April 1, however with the current state of emergency around COVID-19, Nova Scotians are encouraged to stay at home. > > "Nova Scotians love to fish, however this delay is consistent with closure of parks, beaches and other activities where people gather," said Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Keith Colwell. "Some Nova Scotians have already purchased 2020 sportfishing licences and I want them to know those licences will be valid once the season opens." > > Learn to Fish activities have been cancelled this year and no permits will be issued to host trout derbies. > > -30- > > Media Contact: Bruce Nunn > Cell: 902-476-6454 > Email: [email protected] > This was a very difficult decision for our government to make, and was discussed at the highest level. I have been in discussions with Minister Colwell and he has considered the mental and physical benefits of angling and is aware that many Nova Scotians are looking forward to the fishing season to provide some respite from the isolation and inactivity they are experiencing. We all know that fishing is something we can do while practicing social distancing and respecting all the guidelines (now directives) that are now in place. This is an unprecedented situation and we are in now in a state of emergency that requires extraordinary measures to protect public health. The decision made by our Provincial government will be challenged by many anglers, but the health of our citizens is the lens through which all decisions are now being made. Please pass this information along to your members, and to those I have missed in this email, my apologies. I have already responded to many responses to the press release and will be responding to many more over the next few weeks. I wish to thank you for your understanding in these difficult times. Our clients who have requested trout derby permits and those teachers and community groups who were planning to host Learn to Fish events will be receiving emails early next week to inform them of the decision to cancel these events this year.
