Considering a hike in these smoke filled conditions? Wildfire smoke is a complex mixture of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) & gases such as carbon monoxide, nit...rogen oxides & volatile organic compounds. Consider your health & the safety of our BC SAR volunteers & helicopter pilots. Smoky air makes it harder for your lungs to get oxygen into your blood. Wildfire smoke can irritate your respiratory system and cause an immune response, which may lead to inflammation that affects other parts of your body. Common symptoms include eye irritation, runny nose, sore throat, mild cough, phlegm production, wheezy breathing, or headaches. Some people may have more severe symptoms, such as shortness of breath, severe cough, dizziness, chest pain, or heart palpitations. You should seek prompt medical attention if you experience any of these symptoms. Smoky air may increase risk of some infections, such as pneumonia in older people and ear infections in children. Reducing exposure to wildfire smoke is the best way to protect your health. Talon Helicopters https://bit.ly/35x6uQd

On Monday August 3, 2020 shortly after 10:00 a.m., Kimberley and Cranbrook RCMP responded to an incident on the St Mary’s River. The incident took place where the Northstar Rails to Trails crosses the river and as a result the bridge was closed for over eight hours. Search and rescue teams from both Kimberley and Cranbrook assisted the RCMP with the recovery of a deceased individual. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused the general public and appreciate yo...ur patience and understanding while our crews worked to safely remove the deceased," states Sgt. Chris Newel. The BC Coroners Service was notified and also attended the scene. The Coroners Service is also conducting an independent and concurrent fact-finding investigation to determine how, where, when and by what means the deceased came to their unexpected death. Neither the RCMP or the BC Coroners Service has any additional information for release at this time.
