Here is a (not so fun) Headache Fact: As a potential source for the onset of their headaches, migraine sufferers may do well to look to the sky. Research in an issue of Neurology, the American Academy of Neurology's scientific journal, found that in some individuals, Alberta Chinook winds can cause migraines. The study from the University of Calgary Headache Research Clinic chronicled 75 migraine patients, aged 16 to 65, and compared them to Chinook weather trends. The parti...cipants documented the severity of headaches and the time of day. Of the 75 patients surveyed, almost half were more likely to have migraines under Chinook weather conditions than on days without Chinooks. The researchers also found that older patients are more likely than younger patients to have migraines on high-wind Chinook days. No pun intended, it’s not all in your head!
