A new self-assessment tool has been launched to help Nova Scotians get tested for COVID-19 quicker. Instead of calling 811, people can use the online self-asses...sment at https://covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca/ to determine if they need to be tested for COVID-19. If the assessment determines a test is required, the Nova Scotia Health Authority or the IWK Health Centre will call within 24-48 hours to schedule an appointment. This will reduce the wait time to be screened for testing from 12 hours to about 10 minutes. Nova Scotians who wish to speak with a nurse about their symptoms can still phone 811.
Call us at 902-539-2945 or 1-800-563-2945 where there is always someone there to listen and support you.
Good for adults too...
We all have a picture in our head about how we would like our Christmas to be, but, some families can’t even begin to hope for this picture to be reality beca...use of what they are going through and experiencing in their own lives. Cape Breton Transition House Assoc, Willow House, works hard to help the women and children in our community, with your help and generosity. Help us to give families a better Christmas with a few presents under the tree and a meal on their tables. Last year we helped over 70 families giving them over 400 gifts and meal vouchers. We cannot do this without your help! The need is great, and our community has always been so supportive! If you can contribute in some way, no matter how big or small we know it came from your heart and you can wrap these families in your caring and generous spirit. Please contact us at 902-562-2186 ext. 209 and speak to Angie, or as we call her Mrs. Claus, if you can assist us in any way. Happy Holidays! See more
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens ...us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Marianne Williamson Louis Welden Hawkins - The Haloes 1894.

Julian Marshall was 27 years old when he died of overdose on April 4, 2020. His kindness, humour, compassionate and gentle nature had impacted so many throughou...t his life. He was thoughtful, intelligent and curious and had a love of nature, particularly fishing, loving nothing more than a quiet late afternoon on the lake casting out a line. Julian had worked for a time as a mental health worker. He said that he was thankful to have a job where he could help people that were struggling with addictions of their own. He felt, above all, that he wanted to help a person feel accepted for who they were. To feel seen. He is missed.
This past Friday Mayor Cecil Clarke joined Cape Breton Regional Police A/Chief Robert Walsh & The ALLY Centre of Cape Breton Executive Director Christine Port...er at 1 of 10 new sharps disposal kiosks in the CBRM. Through partnership with the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Ally Centre of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Health and the Cape Breton Regional Police Service, 10 new sharps disposal kiosks are being installed across the Municipality as part of an overall harm reduction strategy for a safe and healthy community. These boxes, reduce potential safety risks to people who come in contact with publicly discarded needles and creates more safe disposal options for the people who use needles, whether as a result of substance use or medical conditions, helping to reduce the stigma around substance use in the community.
