It warms our hearts when we see memories of pictures and videos reposted so thank you! Feel free to post your favorite event/band/DJ/memory below! Both Argyle and Gottingen st have meant so much to us Hope you are all doing okay, please check in on friends & family. Shutting down is the right thing to do and I want all businesses to survive this, let me preface this with that . But I just want to start the... conversation of the NS and Canadian Government saying they care about our health and actually doing something about it. I don't know the answers but I know we have learned that being proactive about our health physically and mentally should be tops on the priority list and that the two are deeply connected. More now than ever . Right now gyms are closed (I support this), but the liquor stores and beer delivery aren't (I also like beer and understand why they shouldn’t close). I can also go buy a pack of cigarettes any time I like or go to the mall black Friday shopping . And today 21,000 people watched the NS government update. Imagine if McNeil used the platform to promote physical activity options. Or a subsidy or tax break to help to pay for people's virtual memberships to the local gyms who may struggle to open their doors again? And then more support once the gyms and fitness centers can reopen? . Or use those lives on their page to bring in local trainers for workouts (I happen to know some amazing ones), dietitians for nutrition tips, Dr. Dayna Lee Baggley for mindfulness, Karen Furneaux to talk about resilience, yoga teachers, something for kids physical activity and for experts in all fields related to health and wellness inside and out. Heck, bring in someone to talk about budgets and financial health, relationship experts and bring the whole package together. This stuff matters! . How do we make this happen? How do we get in front of Stephen McNeil and create some change? . Continued in the comments..... See more

Snow. Slush. Sleet. Expect to face all that and more, as you navigate another frosty winter on the roads. Whether you’re a veteran of Canada’s highways or facin...g them for the first time, taking these steps can stack the odds in your favour and help you reach your destination safely. 1. Prepare your vehicle o Install winter tires and keep them properly inflated. In cold temperatures, winter tires provide up to 50% more traction than all-seasons and are well worth the investment. o Carry an extra jug of windshield washer fluid (with deicer in the -40 C range). And ensure that you’re topped up before lengthy trips, so you can see clearly in a storm or behind a semi. o Replace old wiper blades that leave streaks on your windshield. o Carry a scraper, a lightweight shovel and an emergency kit in your trunk. Here’s what to include in your kit. o Consider getting a pre-winter tuneup, which can ensure that your battery, brakes and other essential systems are in good condition. 2. Plan your route o Check weather and road conditions before you drive not only for your current location, but also for your destination and the route in between. o Give yourself more time than usual. That way, you won’t feel the need to speed if conditions worsen. You can even pull over and stop driving, if you need to. o Choose main roads that are plowed and salted over lesstravelled routes. o In extreme conditions, the safest course of action is to delay or postpone your trip. 3. Adjust your technique o Driving on snow and ice requires a delicate touch. Accelerate smoothly, maintain steady pressure on the gas pedal, and brake gently and early to avoid skids. o See and be seen. Before driving, be sure to clear all snow and ice from windows and other surfaces to give yourself, and those behind you, a clear view. Keep your headlights and taillights on, even during the day. o Turn off cruise control if it’s wet, icy or snowy. You won’t feel your wheels lose traction with your foot off the gas pedal. o Above all, always adjust your speed to road conditions. See more
