Hello everyone: For several years, Blind, Partially Sighted & Deafblind individuals have been eligible for the TTC WheelTrans door-to-door service, and This has been a great help to many when traveling in our city. ... However, issues surrounding the shift from the door to door to ‘Family of Service’ approach has created a number of concerns for our community especially those who depend on this vital service for essential travels.. The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) invites Blind, Partially Sighted and Deafblind Wheel-Trans users to participate In a Town Hall discussion of any of your concerns regarding WheelTrans, and not just the shift to the Family of Service approach. The information gathered from this town hall will be used to determine our next step. Here is an excerpt from the job summary: Reporting to the Manager, Equity & Labour Relations, the Manager, Accessibility will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of TPL's Multi-Year Accessibility Plan designed to provide a roadmap for all TPL divisions to be compliant with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and to provide an accessible environment in which people with disabilities can access TPL's services and facilities, information and communications, and employment opportunities, in a way that meets their individual needs. The Manager, Accessibility is also responsible for providing policy advice and expertise on TPL's compliance obligations under the AODA and other related accessibility legislation. The manager will support TPL staff through the development and implementation of initiatives that provide advice, policies, and tools that promote an inclusive workplace and support staff in providing accessible services and facilities. The manager is a key contact to government representatives and agencies on accessibility compliance matters.
