Hello Everyone. We are requesting help from the community. Our programming trailer has been stolen from the MNO Thorold Office. It is a black trailer with silve...r trim. Trailer Plate: R29 86F It was stolen sometime between Saturday April 20th (last seen at 11:50pm) and Tuesday April 23 (it was noticed missing by staff at 8:00am) Inside the trailer was almost all of our historical items for our encampments. Our tents, wood poles, red river cart, camp supplies, fur trade bundles, wooden supply boxes, etc. A lot of stuff was labeled NRMC. If by chance, you happen to find any of these items, please return back to the Metis Nation of Ontario Thorold Office at 3250 Schmon Parkway unit 1-A. No question asked. We know that the trailer is probably gone but they might of dumped the stuff. Our council has spent years building up our encampment and we have used it in partnership with parks Canada, niagara parks, the DSBN, NCDSB, and other community partners. The encampment was not only an educational resource and tool to teach about Metis History, Culture and Way of Life but it was also a labour of love that our council took pride in. With these items missing, we may not be able to participate in events such as the Welland Rose Parade, Fort George, Fort Erie, Fort Malden, Celebration of Nations, and School Board outreach. And to the person who stole from a non-profit indigenous organization, shame on you!
