As a member of the CDC family for 29 years, Robin Craig represented the ideals of a superintendent at CDC Construction. Robin was passionate about his work and was a wonderful mentor. Robin lost his battle with cancer in October 2018. Gone but not forgotten, the Robin Craig Memorial Ride was established to raise funds in support of the Crossroads Hospice Society. Chris Holman, one of CDC’s Principals and a fellow avid motorcyclist, led family, friends and colleagues for a tr...ip to Kelowna this past weekend. The event was a huge success with over $12,000 being raised in Robin’s memory. Robin, your legacy lives on.

The project is Browns Restaurant Group's newest Browns Crafthouse which will feature a large dining room and a covered patio with its own patio bar. Although the awards were moved to 2021, the VRCA is showcasing nominated projects this year so that the industry can still celebrate our achievements. Have you been to the new Browns Crafthouse on Main Street yet? Located on a prominent corner at Main & 16th, this site was a great location for a new restaurant but the building was (very) old and needed a major overhaul. CDC was up for the challenge and completed the demolition in a completely shrink wrapped scaffolding to remove all the old materials while protecting the public on the busy sidewalks. Looking at the restaurant now, you'd never know it was the same building! Last fall, we had the pleasure of working with Blink, a digital creative agency, on the construction management of their new studio in Strathcona. We collaborated with our talented friends at Evoke International Design to review value engineering opportunities during design to match Blink’s vision for the space while staying within budget. Construction wrapped up in January and we are thrilled that our team was able to bring the project in under budget and on schedule to meet their move-in date. While Blink never got to celebrate the grand opening of their studio due to the timing of the pandemic, we wish them all the best in their new location. #webuildyourbusiness

To #feedthefrontline during this pandemic, we dropped off dinner last night at St. Paul’s Hospital from Browns Crafthouse on Main Street, a project we wrapped up earlier this year. Owen Wheeler and Anthony Schirr-Chan from our healthcare team have been working on site at St. Paul’s and kindly delivered the meals on behalf of CDC. As a contractor that works in many of the hospitals in the Lower Mainland, we know how hard the healthcare staff work all year round and we appreciate their extra efforts to keep our community healthy and safe during this pandemic. #essentialworkers #healthheroes #thankyouforyourservice

For our #LunchBoxChallenge today, we provided lunch from Railtown Cafe to our UBCH Koerner Renewal site. The project is an interior renovation which increases inpatient beds and adds a High Acuity Unit to support more complex surgical cases on the first and second floors of the Koerner Pavilion. To keep physical distance among site workers, we set up three different stations with sandwiches, chips and drinks. Our project team on site for lunch today included Principals, Warren Gotch and Chris Holman, Site Superintendent, Drew Forbes, Project Manager, Warren Bradley and Project Coordinator, Cayley Orman. Site CSOs included Kiel Johnston and Aidan Dee. Thanks to Etro Construction Limited for nominating us for the challenge and Scott Construction Group for rallying the construction industry to support local restaurants during the pandemic.

CDC had the pleasure of renovating the new Edgemont Naturopathic Clinic in North Vancouver earlier this year. Once medical spaces reopen to the public, their clinic will be available for naturopathic medicine and wellness consultations.
