This week, East Asian communities will celebrate Lunar New Year and welcome the arrival of the Year of the Ox, which symbolizes hard work, diligence, and perseverance. Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival, Tt in Vietnam, and Seollal in Korea, is one of the most important holidays for the Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese communities, as well as for many East Asian communities in Canada and around the world. Yesterday, the Government of Canada announced almost $15 million in funding for 76 #LGBTQ2 community projects in response to the LGBTQ2 Community Capacity Fund Call for Proposals. https://www.canada.ca//government-of-canada-announces-fund The funding is for organizations working within LGBTQ2 communities and whose project proposals and initiatives contribute to LGBTQ2 equality, protect LGBTQ2 rights, and address discrimination against LGBTQ2 communities, through increased organizational capacity to sustain activities in this area.
