One of my favourite parts about being a JDRF Advocate is meeting new friends with T1D who are also passionate about making a difference. When I took part in JDRF's Kids for a Cure Lobby Day in Ottawa, not only did I get to meet with Members of Parliament, but I also became close friends with other advocates from across Canada. In 2017, when I represented JDRF Canada at JDRF's Children’s Congress in Washington D.C., I created new friendships with diabuddies from around the world. I still keep in touch with my international friends, and hope to one day soon see my friend Margaret from Mayland again and visit my good friend Sanne in the Netherlands."
