Happy Holidays 2020 from all of us at Cedar Springs Dental. Our team and their families made a wonderful collection for Shifra Home. Together, they brought together diapers, a diaper genie station, diaper gene refills, paper towels, toilet papers, diaper wipes, formula, bottles, toothbrushes and baby clothes.... May your 2020 finish well. We wish you good health and happiness! From all of us at Cedar Springs Dental Kim, Holly, Veronica, Brittany, Corrie, Dr. Elizabeth and Stephen
A great big thank you to our Team and their families. A Christmas drive for supplies for Shifra Home has started. Shifra home is a maternity residence for pregnant individuals who need a home during pregnancy and until they find a safe place to start for them and their new baby.... Please consider contributing toilet paper, kitchen rolls, diapers, diaper genie refills and baby wipes. Thank you! From the team at Cedar Springs Dental
Help us have some 2020 competitive fun. This year we are making a collection of toilet paper, paper towel rolls, diaper wipes, diaper genie refills and diapers (size 3 needed the most) for Shifra Home. Each one of our team is collecting. Points are assigned for each item donated in their name. ... Please consider helping a team member who helped you with good service. Thank you to all patients who have donated very generously over the past Christmases. We are very comforted to know that a service like Shifra Home exists in our community and have hope that it helps a new generation of people find a safe place in the world. Please consider dropping off a baby item to Cedar Springs Dental for the residents at Shifra Home. And make one of our team members smile by assigning it to their name. Team members: Kim, Corrie, Brittany, Veronica, Holly, Nishita. (Don't forget, call us from the parking lot so that we can help you enter the building safely) Shifra Home helps mothers seeking advice during pregnancy. It is a maternity residence that offers a place to stay and support during pregnancy, birth of baby and finding a place to stay after Shifra Home. https://www.shifrahomes.com/what-we-do.html
Dear Residents Radon Gas is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas that is formed naturally by the radioactive breakdown of uranium contained in soil and roc...k. Hamilton Public Health Services recently conducted a study of radon gas levels in residential homes in Waterdown / Flamborough / Hamilton that did show some areas with higher than acceptable levels. Effective immediately, Council has approved radon testing equipment to be a requirement for all new construction builds going forward. These new requirements apply to new building permits for all new construction, and any building additions to, low-rise residential building applications after November 16, 2020. This is a serious issue which is long overdue in acknowledging. I encourage everyone to learn more about radon gas and how you can test your home: https://www.hamilton.ca/public-health/health-topics/radon According to Health Canada, long-term exposure to radon is linked to approximately 16% of lung cancer deaths in Canada and is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. Normally radon escapes from the ground into the air where it mixes with fresh air resulting in concentrations too low to be a health concern. However, when radon enters an enclosed space through cracks or openings in floors in contact with the ground, or through foundations, it can accumulate to higher concentrations. The city will begin a promotional campaign directed to property owners across the city encouraging them to test their properties for radon gas. Dr Violet Greiner is a local family physician with the Waterdown Family Medical Clinic on Hamilton St. When the pandemic started, Dr. Greiner seamlessly slipped... into helper mode. As medical appointments were made virtual, Dr. Greiner guided colleagues through the technological challenges to ensure the practice could continue to provide healthcare solutions to their patients. As the pandemic progressed and stories started to emerge about PPE shortages and shortcomings, Dr. Greiner used her own 3D printer to craft face shields to protect health workers from droplets and aerosolized virus. Dr. Greiner researched safety requirements, sourced the most appropriate materials and made several prototypes, always seeking to make the face-shields safe and comfortable. At her own cost, she purchased additional 3-D printers and materials, and with her family's help has made more than 200 face-shields. These have been distributed to local physicians and healthcare workers at Mount Nemo, Alexander Place and Cama Woodlands LTC to ensure local healthcare workers have the same level of protection as their hospital counterparts. Dr. Greiner has done this tirelessly from her home, as well as continuing her work as a family physician. She receives no remuneration for this and counts her efforts as simply trying to do her part in the fight against this deadly virus. Today is World Turtle Day 23rd May Please remember discarded balloons and plastic bags are a big threat to turtles. Sometimes they mistake clear plastic bags for jellyfish and eat them.... Let's protect the world we live in. Reduce plastic when possible. If stores do not allow reuseable bags for now, we can put paid items back in the cart, take them to our car, and bag/box them there. Recycle Some municipalities allow recycling of plastic that has been washed and is clean. #turtle #savetheplanet #saveouroceans #saveourworld #recycle
