Cedarstone Farm 10.01.2021

We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and enjoyed some time with their family! Moving forward, we were going to be shut down for lessons between Xmas and New years. Now that we are back under lockdown, all indoor AND outdoor recreational sports are closed. This includes horseback riding. We look forward to seeing all our students again once the lockdown lifts. Schedule will stay the same as before Christmas once we are able to resume. Boarders - You are still allowed to visit and ride your horses as per normal. Please sign the sheet when you are here for contact tracing and sanitize what you touch. Masks are mandatory in the barn and arena as per before. Stay safe everyone!!

When we used to run a Christmas banquet as opposed to a banquet in January, we used to collect donations to a different charity each year. As we won’t be able to get together this year for our annual banquet, I will be making a donation to this wonderful place. Some of the horses at Cedarstone have come from LongRun and a lot of others were racehorses in their previous careers. Places like LongRun help to rehome racehorses and place them in homes where they can go on to new c...areers as show horses, family horses and companions. In a world where too many people are ok with tossing aside their horses once they are ‘used up’, it’s places like LongRun that matter as well as the race owners that donate their horses there. It’s been a hard year on everyone but if any of my students could donate even $5, I know it would be appreciated. You can donate directly to LongRun or through myself and I will put it all in as a donation from our Cedarstone family! See more

FROM A PARENT: One of my friends asked "Why do you pay so much money for your kids to ride horses?" Well I have a confession to make, I don't pay for my kids to... ride horses. So, if I am not paying for them to ride, what am I paying for? - I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't. - I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go the barn but go anyway. - I pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined. - I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body. - I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates. - I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don't get that score they'd hoped for, but still have to work hard in the grading. - I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals. - I pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight. - I pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships. - I pay so that my kids can be in the arena instead of in front of a screen... ...I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for horse riding, I pay for the opportunities that horse riding provides my kids with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment!

Stay tuned for an update on lessons tonight... the snow isn’t bad here but the wind is. If it doesn’t die down, lessons will cancelled. I will notify everyone by 3:00 if so.Stay tuned for an update on lessons tonight... the snow isn’t bad here but the wind is. If it doesn’t die down, lessons will cancelled. I’m a day late in posting this but I needed to say how thankful I am to have these wonderful ladies in my life. They are an amazing team to have working for me amd I am grateful to them everyday for their dedication they put into this farm! Thank you Mikayla, Laura, Kim, Desiree and Nikki!! **I should also edit this to add in my fabulous barn rats that, even though not employed, are alway willing to help out whenever needed. Thank you Sophie and Kaity for all you do!!

Would any parents be interested in a digital copy of their kids favourite school horse for Xmas? Limitless ideas to use it for- from a framed photo to a poster to even a picture on a blanket. Comment below if you would be interested. Looking to see if there is enough interest. ( photo not of our school horse. Done by Brittany Todd Photography)

Are you getting excited for Halloween? We are! Beginner lessons can look forward to our Halloween Scavenger Hunt Trail ride in the next 2 weeks! Taking our students outside of the ring and on trail rides helps them build a whole new set of riding skills that we don’t get to practice in our usual lessons. And fall weather is the best since there are beautiful colours and no bugs!

Ended tonight’s lessons off by taking one of my intermediate lessons out for a great trail ride. Saw some colours, stopped for a bite in the apple tree and came back just as the fog was rolling in for the night.
