It looks like winter is here to stay, as temperatures drop it is important to take extra steps to keep our pets safe.

Cedarwood Veterinary Hospital 20.11.2020

Please be advised we have updated our protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic effective Monday Nov. 30/20. In keeping with current expert recommendations, we have made the following changes at our hospitals: Admittance and check-out When arriving at our hospital, we ask that you follow the below steps for the safety of all: Upon arrival at the hospital, please remain in your vehicle as we are no longer allowing clients into our building (please note, exceptions will be made ...for end of life circumstances) After receipt of the call, we will check you in as soon as possible from outside the hospital. Staff will come out to your vehicle and intake your pet for examination in the building. ***Please be advised, we do require all dogs to be on leash (or carrier) as well as all cats to be in a carrier.*** If you believe you need to be inside our facility, please discuss that request in advance with the Hospital Manager and/or attending veterinarian. If you are at the hospital to pick up food or medication, please remain in your car outside the hospital and call the front desk. We will deliver your order to your car as quickly as possible. ***Please note, wait times may be significantly longer for food/medication pick ups. We kindly ask that you give staff 24hrs notice and pay in advanced for quicker service at time of pick up*** . We are trying to limit the amount of cash payments. You may pay via e-transfer, credit card over the phone or use our wireless terminal that we will bring out to you to use. Invoices can be emailed at time of transaction. If you are not feeling well, travelled internationally or may be at risk of exposure to coronavirus, please ask a healthy friend or family member to transport your pet to the hospital on your behalf. We appreciate your patience during this difficult time. We understand that veterinary visits are stressful during normal circumstances and appreciate your cooperation to not only keep you, as owners safe, but our staff as well. See more

Did you know that Cedarwood Veterinary Hospital provides chiropractic appointments for pets? Dr. Tanya Dobrzanski is at Cedarwood once a month to provide chiropractic work. If you feel like your pet could benefit from chiropractic work please check with your regular veterinarian and have them refer you to Dr. Dobrzanski. What animals should get Chiropractic Care?... Chiropractic care is not limited to sick or injured pets. Healthy and athletic animals are ideal candidates for chiropractic care. Maintaining proper structural alignment and motion allows optimal function of the muscles, nerves, and tissues that support the joints, resulting in improved mobility, stance and flexibility. Good alignment improves agility, endurance, and overall performance. Animal Chiropractic Care can also help maintain mobility in older animals, enhancing the quality of your pets life, and ensuring more active and healthy years.

Meet Blue! Saving Grace Animal Society has done an amazing job with this boy and his recovery. Dr. Tara Dixon has been working hard with Saving Grace to help Blue and he is looking so good. They have had their work cut out for them with daily baths and medications but their dedication to these animals shines through with cases like this one. Dr. Dixon has a special interest in skin and we have seen her have success with many challenging skin cases over the years, we are so lucky to have her here at Cedarwood Veterinary Hospital. We are so happy Blue is looking so great and that he is ready to move onto the next chapter in his life and find a loving family to call his own! Great job to Saving Grace and Dr. Dixon for your hard work giving this sweet boy another chance at life!!

It is important to keep yourself and your pets safe while playing in or around water. We recommend limiting your pets time in the water as water toxicity is a concern for dogs that drink/gulp water or take in water while swimming, it is relatively rare but potentially fatal condition.
