Due to the current rapid increase in positive Covid-19 cases, we will be reverting to our "closed waiting room" policy effective October 15. Clients will no longer be allowed inside our hospital. Please call 204-269-8162 when you arrive for your appointment or ring the doorbell, and one of our staff members will meet you at the hospital entrance to admit your pet for their exam. We will give you an electronic pager and you will then be asked to return back to your vehicle. Once the veterinarian has finished the exam, we will call to discuss our recommended treatment plan. When your pet is ready to go, we will page you to return back to the door. This does not apply to euthanasia appointments.

Did you know that November 4th is National Stress Awareness Day? It happens on the first Wednesday in November aims to identify and reduce the stress factors in your life. Some stress is good for us. It helps us to respond to changes in life. Stress is our body’s way of protecting itself from harm. However, too much stress causes harm to our health and relationships. Identifying the stressors impacting our physical and mental health is important. Sometimes, health problems a...re the cause. But our health can also be affected by external stressors such as physical abuse, stressful work environments, financial stress, or other family health issues. Once we identify the causes of stress in our lives, we can begin to eliminate or reduce stress. Some tools that help with stress include: Develop coping skills for anxiety. Identify and let go of the things you cannot change. Exercise helps us to let go of built-up anxiety. Eating a balanced diet fuels our bodies so we’re able to better cope with the stress. Post your pet’s pictures along with their name for the ones who are feeling a little stressed today. Pets always have a way of helping us cope with everyday stressors.

Geriatric pets should have semi-annual veterinary visits instead of annual visits so signs of illness or other problems can be detected early and treated. Senior pet exams are similar to those for younger pets, but are more in depth, and may include dental care, possible bloodwork, and specific checks for physical signs of diseases that are more likely in older pets. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your senior pet, please call our hospital at 204-269-8162 or visit our website at www.centennialanimalhospital.com
