NEW Program now open for registration: Parent & Tot Canskate Monday nights 6:15pm - 7:00pm at the Clareview Rec Centre Parent & Tot information:... This program allows a family member to be on the ice with the young skaters who require hands-on assistance. The adult on the ice will be someone the skater knows, trusts and is in their cohort. Both the skater and the family member must be registered with Skate Canada. Adults and skaters will participate in a small group lesson delivered by professional coaches and trained program assistants. Coaching aids and verbal cues will used to guide parents and skaters through circuits. Circuits allow for skill progressions to be practiced and all skills to be performed more than once per session. Skills will be adapted as needed to properly challenge each skater. Both the adult and child need: - Skates, - a CSA-approved hockey helmet - long pants, mittens and a warm sweater or jacket. Adults must be at least 15 years of age and have basic skating skills (balance on 2 feet, move forwards and stop). One adult per one skater.

It takes a group of skating friends to get a good spinning video...one to fix the phone, one to photo bomb, and one to spin . #camelspin #friendship

Figure skating is an individual sport so social distancing is not a problem. SKATE CANADA protocols plus a club that is diligent on adherence makes it even safer. Centennial SC makes the safety of its members a priority so learning to skate can be safe. Skating falls in the Low risk category. Team sports are different but being in a team cohort does not affect your opportunity to participate in an individual sport. They are not considered the same.

Fun fact about our club, all our classes are taught on Olympic size ice! Olympic size ice and small class sizes, what could be a better combination?! We are currently accepting registration for the following programs, CanSkate - this is our learn to skate program that focuses on skating basics for all ice sports, such as forward skating, backwards skating, gliding & stopping.... Learn to Figure - this is an introduction to the sport of figure skating. At this level basic jumps, spins and edges are taught. StarSkate - Skaters will continue to build on their skills they learnt in learn to figure. At this level skaters will begin skating tests and competitions (if desired). Come skate with us www.centennialskatingclub.com

During these times we know parents will have many concerns bringing their children to extra curricular activities. Here are a few things you can expect if you register your child into skating. - Health screenings completed before arrival for any participant and spectator attending our programming - Masks will be worn by the coaches, program assistants, volunteers and spectators ... - Participants will have to wear masks to the ice surface and then they may remove while they skate if they choose - Social distancing lessons We would also like to mention that City of Edmonton has been doing an amazing job keeping us all safe! They are currently only allowing users of the facility into the building and have security at the doors to ensure this. Each area of the facility is sectioned off so the different users don’t intermingle. There is no congregating in common areas. Our participants will enter and go straight to the ice surface and spectators into the stands. The arena is being disinfected between each user group. We have attached a few pictures of what the arena looks like while we are there using it. We are excited for the new skating season to start and to see everyone’s smiling faces once again!

Off-ice training shenanigans. Who said strength and agility training needs to be boring. "Fit through play" is our motto. Back to basics.
