Congratulations to Mourtada Al-Hamidawi on his 1st Solo!!! It's always great to share a student's first significant training milestone so it's a good day today. Mourtada took the controls and calmly flew by himself for the first time just the way his instructor taught him. Way to go Mourtada!

It’s great to be open and flying again. This pic shows a special group of new wannabe aviators hanging out under the canopy just above our main entrance. They first showed up a couple of weeks ago and each student was initially isolated in their own little room just to be safe. Following the quarantine they emerged and gathered in the common area but aren’t doing that great a job of minding the 2 metre rule. However, their Flight Instructor (also known to them affectionately as Mom) is providing lots of groundschool preparing them for their 1st Solo. This is particularly important as they are part of a special training program where the 1st Solo is followed immediately by the granting of their Pilot’s licence. It’s worked well in the past for groups like this and expectations are it will again.

Congratulations to Sarathkumar Sasikumar oh his 1st Solo!!! It's not uncommon for a pre-solo student to have doubts about their readiness for their first time flying the plane all by themselves and Sarath was no exception. However, his instructor had full confidence and sure enough, Sarath did a great job and is now one significant step forward towards his Private licence. Woo-hoo!!!

Congratulations to Aymeric Lagorgette on his successful Multi-Engine Flight Test. He did a great job and now he's continuing with the same focus on to the IFR training. Way to go Aymeric!

Writing with a great update on the school - we are welcoming three new Instructors to the team!! For existing students it makes us better able to meet your training needs and for potential students looking for a school it makes us a great choice - give us a call and take to the air! In the pictures below it's Laine Ewaschuk, Andrew Kwiatkowski and Asif Ali (he's not actually that shy, just hasn't got a picture in yet. We'll post it as soon as he does.) All three are experien...ced, enthusiastic and ready to help our new and future customers attain their goals whether it's training for a career or the fun and achievement of learning some terrific new skills. (and now we have a pic of Asif! YAY!)

Congratulations to Craig Courtney on his 1st Solo!! It was a wonderful day - weather wise as well as accomplishment wise. Craig took control of the aircraft as his Instructor exited the aircraft and proceeded to do a great job of his first time as the sole occupant of an aircraft. Smiles all around after a job well done!

Congratulations to Lyndsey Panasiuk on her First Solo!!!! Like everyone she had a rather lengthy break in her training for April, May and most of June but came back with enthusiasm. A few flights to get back in the groove and now she's done her first flight as the sole occupant and pilot in an airplane. A thrilling and satisfying accomplishment with lots more to come. Way to go Lyndsey!!!

Haven't written in a while as everyone was hunkered down. But we are happy to announce that we are once again open for Instructional flights. Following appropriate guidance from our Provincial Government we have implemented procedures to minimize the risk from COVID-19 and protect the health of our students and renters as well as our staff. Existing students will be contacted in the next few days and are welcome to call Dispatch with any questions. Potential new students are... welcome to call us at 780-451-7676 for information. As part of our new procedures we are not accepting walk-in inquiries at this time, so phone contact must be used. This is a new situation for us all and we must work together as we navigate new processes and procedures. This may result in the occasional delay responding, but we will get back to you as soon as we are able. So much looking forward to seeing everyone again.

To all our valued students, customers and potential future pilots we regret to announce that we are temporarily suspending operations as part of the response to limit the spread of COVID-19. We are complying with the direction issued by Alberta's Chief Medical Officer. It is uncertain at this time as to when we will reopen, however we will update this notice as changes occur. Until that happens we sincerely hope you and your family remain healthy. We also encourage everyone to maintain relationships with extended family and friends to the extent possible. Trying times are when we need the support and contact from others the most. When close, in-person contact isn't advisable, be sure to call and maintain as much normalcy as possible with those you like and love. We will get through this, it will be much easier together than alone.

Well this is an interesting picture. It presents 2 possible messages - one where it sort of seems that Yaunjun Kang is trying to hitch an airplane ride. And the other, the REAL one, where he's giving a big "thumbs up" following his 1st Solo where, forget about riding in the plane, he was the pilot! Congratulations Kang!!!

Centennial Flight Centre 28.02.2020

Congratulations to Kyle Clifford on his 1st Solo! A very special to end the day for sure. Kyle took command of the aircraft when his Instructor got out and flew a great circuit all by himself. He can't think of a better, more satisfying way to end the day (and neither can I). Way to go Kyle!

Centennial Flight Centre 14.02.2020

Congratulations to Braden Welsh on his 1st Solo!!! It's hard to think of anything cooler than flying an airplane all by yourself and I'm sure Braden agrees. He did just that today and is well on his way to his Private Pilot Licence. Then he can do it all the time!

Centennial Flight Centre 20.01.2020

Congratulations to Josh Morrell on his 1st Solo!!! Joining the group of people who have successfully flown an aircraft by themselves is no small accomplishment. Happy to now be a member, Josh is really looking forward to completing his training and getting his Private licence. Way to go Josh!

Merry Christmas from all of us at Centennial to all our students (past and present) and our friends throughout the aviation community. We hope that the holidays will be a happy time to connect with friends and family, wherever they may be.

Welcome to our new Instructor - Kash Kashyap!!! He's a Class 3 Instructor who has energy, enthusiasm and a student-centric focus that makes him a great addition to our existing Instructor team. Glad to have you here, Kash!

Congratulations to Vincent Duong on his 1st Solo!! We're back (and so is the sun - yay!) to celebrating student accomplishments and kudos to Vincent for managing his first time solo well. Way to go Vincent!!

Centennial Flight Centre 17.10.2019

We don't normally post non-aviation stuff and mostly it's celebrations of our students' successes - which is our prime focus. However, on this cold, windy day with not much aviating going on this ad caught my eye. In no way am I endorsing this or any other car, but I thought it was sort of appropriate with winter coming on. And IMHO it's very cool - so I hope you enjoy it! https://youtu.be/FMqADdsVmwQ

Congratulations to Cody Whyte on his 1st Solo!! Most people can only imagine the feeling of soaring onto the air all by yourself but Cody is no longer one of them. Although he was slightly constrained by his Instructor to only doing one circuit, he's now tasted freedom and can't wait for more. Way to go Cody!

Centennial Flight Centre 01.10.2019

Congratulations to Kyle Prado on his 1st Solo!! What a great day it was for Kyle today as he took his first flight in a 172 as the sole occupant in the airplane. And of course the phrase "You have control" took on a whole new meaning! He did great and really had a big smile when he got back.

Centennial Flight Centre 31.08.2019

Congratulations to Nathan Lesino on his 1st Solo!!! Quite the feeling when you take control of an airplane all by yourself and safely conduct a take-off, a circuit of the airport and land all by yourself. And the fact the post is a few days late doesn't diminish Nathan's accomplishment one little bit. Yahoo Nathan!
