Dear CHEEC Families, please read this information regarding the current Lockdown. I hope everyone is healthy and doing well. As I am sure you are all aware, the Government of Ontario has implemented a lock down for all public and secondary schools, with public schools reopening classes on Jan 11th and secondary schools on Jan 25th. Students are to take part in online learning form home while the lockdown is in place. With the implementation of remote learning from home our ...before and after school programs will be closed. We will reopen on Jan 11th, 2021 when the public schools reopen their doors. Our before and after school programs will operate within the same guidelines as prior to the closer. The Government has also announced that childcare centres will remain open with no disruptions to services. This means that both our Madoc and Marmora full day preschool and toddler programs are businesses as usual. If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. Please take care. We wish you and your families all the best. Warmest regards, Kari Dailey, RECE Executive Director

Good morning to all of our CHEEC families, Thank you to all of the families who reached out shortly after our message regarding the School Board’s decision to delay the reopening of before and after school programs yesterday. We would like to try and answer a few of the questions that have come up and clarify as best we can to help families what we have been doing and how we are trying navigate this very new approach to the school year. From day one the CHEEC staff has demons...trated dedication and have shown what talented Registered Early Childhood Educators can achieve with professionalism. Our new process for childcare is not easy but staff start each day with a smile and a positive attitude. We reopened our School Age Summer Program in Marmora on July 13th and it ran for 5 weeks supporting our families. On July 20th we were so happy to offer our preschool families spaces at both Madoc and Marmora locations. We now have opened our toddler program in Madoc on August 24th. Progress is being made, even if it is baby steps. With many regulations and policies and procedures to follow, our staff has made many adjustments in order to provide a safe and welcoming environment for the children to thrive in. Staff are being flexible in order support our families to the best of our ability. THANK YOU TO ALL STAFF AND SUPPORT STAFF FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE! The School Board’s decision to delay before and after school programs is disappointing to many but they also have many factors they have to work through just like we did before we opened. Individual meetings with the School Board will be taking place very soon. At that time we will be discussing with the Board how to open as safety and collaboratively as we are all in this together. Supporting each other and guiding with a positive direction is first and foremost. We care for the most vulnerable and in doing so we guide their learning and development. We want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. See more
