WEAR ORANGE TOMORROW!!! TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 30, IS ORANGE SHIRT DAY. THIS IS A DAY WHEN WE HONOUR THE INDIGENOUS CHILDREN WHO WERE SENT AWAY TO RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS IN CANADA AND WHEN WE LEARN MORE ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THOSE SCHOOLS. WHY IS SEPTEMBER 30th A SPECIAL DATE?... IT FALLS DURING THE TIME OF YEAR WHEN INDIGENOUS CHILDREN WERE TAKEN AWAY TO RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS. WHY AN ORANGE SHIRT? IT REFERS TO THE ORANGE SHIRT THAT PHYLLIS WEBSTAD WORE TO HER FIRST DAY OF RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL. IT WAS TAKEN AWAY BY THE SCHOOL AND NEVER RETURNED. THE COLOR ORANGE HAS ALWAYS REMINDED HER OF HER EXPERIENCES AT THE RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL AND HOW HER FEELINGS DIDN'T MATTER.

Now that our graduates and families have had an opportunity to enjoy this, we wanted to share it with all of you! We were really sad to not be able to host our annual variety show for the graduates and so, with some quick thinking and hard work from the grads and staff at CNBA, we were able to create what we are calling this year's Virtual Variety Show! If you follow this link, it will send you to a YouTube playlist. If you don't click out of the video, each part will automatically play for you! We hope you enjoy this as much as we all did! Have a terrific summer and stay safe and healthy! We look forward to seeing you in the Fall! Congratulations again to the grads of 2020! https://www.youtube.com/watch

****UPDATE: Please get info to Ms. Elliot ASAP if you plan to apply to NBCC on June 1. You need to let Ms. Elliot know the course and location by tomorrow morning, May 29, so she can ensure transcripts are sent, as acceptance is very competitive.**** Info for those applying to NBCC: Attention Grade 11 Future Post-Secondary Students... I am happy to inform you that grade 11 students will be able to apply for the 2021-2022 academic year beginning June 1st. We appreciate everyone’s patience with the delay in getting the application opened for this group, however, the delay was necessary due to the closure of the College Admissions Service in March and April. As we begin our journey with continuing education, the CNBA Math Department would like to remind all students that extra math help will be available for every grade level each week, starting with GRADE 6 TOMORROW FROM 10:30-11:30. They are strongly encouraged to follow the Microsoft Teams instructions and let us know on the LIVE EXTRA HELP channel that they would like help! The more notice and specifics the better so that we can help your child and make use of this time! Also, a shout-out to some of our Grade 12 students who have volunteered to use some of their time to help math students of all grade levels too! An awesome example of an opportunity to learn in a new, creative, and team-based way! Please reach out to any teacher if you need help or have questions with any course currently offered!
