It is with the deepest sadness that we inform the wrestling community of Aaron Wright’s passing. Aaron loved to train. He was a fixture in the wrestling room. ... All smiles, all the time, even in the face of great athletic challenge or adversity. He was always a gentlemen and respectful of all his teammates, competitors, coaches and officials. Our coaches and athletes are devastated by the loss of our teammate and good friend. We are all praying for Aaron and his family. At this time perhaps it’s best to remember all the good times with Aaron and think of him through wrestling, the sport he loved and that loved him back.

Central Toronto WC had three wrestlers enter the Ontario Youth Championships today. We walked away with two gold and one silver! Congrats to Ella, Alyna and Asher for their terrific efforts!

2nd Total Knee Replacement done! 2 months after my first TKR, I get to start the painful rehab all over again. Joy and bliss! Now both my knees are acting as mini space heaters for the house. Ice and more ice!

I heard a report saying that knee replacement surgery is the most painful procedure you can have. And I felt like such a wimp for not being 100% after 10 weeks! And tomorrow morning I get my second one! Oh joy! Can't wait!

Just heard Oprah's speech! So inspiring! In the 1970's it just never made sense to me why only males were allowed to wrestle. We've moved on! Makes me feel so proud of all the Canadian women and girls who have taken up and excelled at the best and toughest sport in the world!

For car aficionados the '57 Chevy is unique. I like it just because that was my year. If you own a good venerable car, you don't chuck it out because it needs new tires you replace the tires and keep it going. Awaiting my second total knee replacement in 10 days! Happy New Year!

Saturdays at CALC CTW is excited to be hosting Saturday technical clinics and exhibition matches at CALC (1 Danforth) starting tomorrow October 14th. These events will run from 10 am - 12 pm on Saturday mornings moving forward. Anyone is welcome to participate who has a valid OAWA card. These saturdays are meant to be a time for athletes in Ontario to get together and wrestle when there are no tournaments. Please feel free to share this email and to invite other athletes fr...om other clubs. The fee for these matches and clinics will be $20 per Saturday and is payable at the door or in advance by email. We will be offering FREE trials the next two Saturdays October 14th and October 21st. We look forward to seeing everyone out.

The fall session of wrestling officially begins this week and runs till the end of Decemmber, if you have not signed up already, please contact me directly. Also if you have out grown your boots our supplier has some boots on sale. Practice times for the fall season are as follows. Please note that for the time being all practices will be at Kapow. We are still working on fall permi...ts at The City Adult Learning Centre, 1 Danforth avenue. Mondays: 7-9 pm (younger children are welcome to finish at 8 or 8:30) Tuesdays: 7-9 pm (younger children are welcome to finish at 8 or 8:30) Wednesday: 7-9 pm**** (younger children are welcome to finish at 8 or 8:30) Thursday: 7-9 pm (younger children are welcome to finish at 8 or 8:30) Sunday: 10-12 pm ***Tyke athletes are especially encouraged to attend this session. Happy start of summer! 150th say what? Folks have referred to some of these parts of the world as Canada for 1,000's of years. Party on!!

What a great practice tonight. Athletes at all ages and levels, benefitting from some tremendous coaching by the Cuban Coaches and Athletes alike. Nothing short of incredible. I saw every athlete in the room improve tonight. Not often you can say that with confidence.

A week of playing some intense badminton showed me that it had a lot in common with wrestling and life - keeping feet moving is critical!

Of course we were a long (humble) way from breaking the world plank record set at 8 hours and 1 minute! The trick is to not mind the hurt!
