Eric Miller, the former chair of the Hamilton Farmers’ Market, a volunteer position, argues that the city could have covered the $170,000 in relief for six months of rent for 50-odd vendors through market reserve funds or by forgoing a second governance study budgeted at $75,000 ....wait a minute, a second governance study was on the table ???
A little background on the Farmers Market story. City Council rescinded its decision to provide rent relief and as Cameron Kroetsch states it was the wrong way to go and demonstrates a huge lack of empathy. Thanks to Councillors Pauls and Nann for voting against this. If other municipalities can provide rent relief, then so can the City of Hamilton. Hamilton doesn't always need to be the exception to the rule.
If you find that some of the Farmers Market vendors have closed shop, you’ll know why...
The buzz about Aeon Studio is getting louder...
Hey folks! There’s a new resource in town! Cameron Kroetsch, founder of the Downtown Sparrow writes that the site provides a bio on each neighbourhood in Ward 2 as well as election information for the downtown Wards, archives, City documents, and an interactive development map that shows proposed new developments. Stay tuned for more additions! ... https://www.facebook.com/DowntownSparrow https://downtownsparrow.ca/from-the-nest/

Well, well, well, I guess they do things differently up on the mountain. Council voted to consult residents on a new master plan for the popular -but-aging park in 2018
The city is selling prime waterfront property. The lots are located on Piers 5 through 7 at the foot of James Street North and extend approximately to Hughson Street North.
As Cameron Kroetsch aptly states Margaret's point about vacant properties being allowed to stay vacant is a familiar one to folks in Ward 2. There are many, but the Cannon Knitting Mills stands out. Property speculation? Another heritage demolition by neglect? #HamOnt
The original plan has been amended to a 10 storey building comprised of 89 units. Read the article for more details. Construction to begin in the spring of 2021.
