Dear Centre Community, now that the holiday season is fast approaching, we are announcing our holiday fundraising campaign before the end of 2020. During this difficult pandemic year, the Centre has made many new changes and continues to run its clinical program. This year, we have 40+ participants doing virtual art, music, drama, and dance/movement therapy, and we are training over 16 graduate student ...interns from Concordia University. As a result of the pandemic, our virtual videoconferencing platforms have made it accessible for our students from Montreal, Mexico, British Columbia, Ottawa and more, to join us! To maintain the Centre's programming, we depend on the private sector to support our program and we are asking for your help. You may wonder, how is the Centre operating during the COVID-19 Pandemic? We are excited to take you through our phases of how we ended up a completely virtual centre during this time! Phase 1 included: - Initially getting out of the office and immediately contacting participants and families - Figuring out who had the correct technology to transition to online sessions... - Holding orientations and interviews with families and participants, ensuring they would be comfortable with this new virtual world - Consulting with Concordia and our interns fun fact: we didn’t even know if the program could run at all until late August/early September - Jumping into the new, virtual Centre! Hello Centre Community! Every year, we try to sell Claxton Fruit Cakes to help the Lakeshore Civitan Club, who then return the favour by giving our organization a donation generated from the sales.
