The Pre Kinders made their own parachutes and added an object to the bottom of the parachute. They timed and graphed how long it took to fall to the ground. There was a discussion on why some took longer than others - new scientific words were being learned.

Loose materials can be used in endless ways. There are essentially no limits to what can be used and how children use them. Loose parts have children problem solving, expresses their creativity, helps with fine motor development and much more. The children were building with sticks and their imagination lead them to building houses, and camp fires.

We celebrated Mothers Day on Friday with desserts, sandwiches, and refreshments! The children worked hard all week preparing the desserts for their moms and making that special gift! Wishing all you moms a Happy Mothers Day!

The preschool room has started exploring pets this week by taking care of Julias fish. Today they made their own pet rocks. The detail and care that each child put into making their pets and their homes was outstanding!

We are not able to accommodate OSC children tomorrow during the day in the case that buses are cancelled. Parents will be responsible for transportation to and from school. The walking program to St. Marg will still be operational regardless.

The preschool children had fun hammering golf tees into Styrofoam today. The children attended this activity for a long length of time while working on fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.

Environmental print and symbol recognition in the Pre-kinder/Kinder block center today. The childrens imaginations and team work skills were definitely in high gear today.

"Pose like spiderman" Happy Halloween. What a fun and crazy day we had today! Dont forget tomorrow is pajama and pizza day at the center.

Thank you to all the families that joined us for our halloween celebration on Thursday. It was a great turn out. A special thank you to the families that helped us clean after the event. The left over pumpkins were used on Friday in the classrooms for sensory, carving, and painting.

Im constantly amazed by the hard work and passion century teachers show every day. You are VERY much appreciated.

A family came in today and shared that their child was talking about turtles last night. We brought our huge turtle shell into the room. We talked about how hard the shell was and how safe the turtle would be inside it. Of course we also talked about ninja turtles and how they also had a shell! We love when families share information from home, so we can expand on it and incorporate it into the center.

Loretta in the preschool room created a steering wheel for the preschoolers to enjoy during their interest of cars. I can sense so much valuable dramatic play coming from this creation made of only recyclable materials.

The bouncy castle today was a success. The children absolutely loved it. Keep an eye out for fundraisers because one day we would like to have one of our very own!
