In honour of National Sangria Day here is a little festive treat you might enjoy: Christmas Sangria Sangria is usually a summer drink, but there is no reason not to enjoy this rich beverage over the holidays. Here is a quick recipe you can whip up at home. 1 bottle of red wine (pinot or grenache work well) cup of Brandy... cup fresh orange juice cup cranberry juice 1 orange, thinly sliced 1 bartlett pear sliced thinly sliced 1 firm apple, thinly sliced 1 cup of sliced strawberries 1 - 2 tablespoons of Maple syrup Cinnamon sticks Place all the sliced fruit in the bottom of a pitcher, cover with fruit juices, pour in brandy and maple syrup to taste, stir, then add red wine. Let chill for up to 2hrs and serve over ice garnish with a slice of orange and a cinnamon stick to add a holiday touch.
