The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is surveying health care providers currently practicing in Canada to learn more about the training and resources that will be most useful to help you discuss COVID-19 vaccines with patients/clients, and to receive the vaccine yourself when they become available. The online survey will be available to complete until Dec 13, 2020. Thank you very much for your time and participation.... https://bit.ly/3mWI34F

The Canadian Dental Assistants Association (CDAA) petition that all oral health professionals must receive recognized education is still up and your support is needed! If you are a formally trained and licensed/certified dental assistant then we need you to sign this petition. Lowering the standards for dental assistant education is no more acceptable than lowering the standards for a dentist's education. The promotion of online courses that profess to provide a dentist wit...h the knowledge, skill, and ability to independently train an individual to work clinically with patients and provide infection, prevention and control (IPC) in a dental practice does not, in my opinion, protect the public interest and instead serves to devalue the practice and profession of dental assisting. It is not just regulated duties that can pose a risk to patients. Arguably, IPC procedures conducted incorrectly and without background knowledge in areas such as microbiology can be detrimental to both staff and patients. I oppose the use of the job titles such as chairside assistant, chairside dental assistant or any other similar title that would imply, (purposely or accidentally), that an individual independently trained by a dentist or other designated staff member is a formally educated / licensed RDA / CDA / DA when they have not passed the NDAEB and / or are not formally educated / licensed to practice in their province as an RDA / CDA / DA. Please click on the link below and add your support. The CDAA will be taking this petition to the government and provincial regulators asking for action to be taken. https://www.ipetitions.com//recognized-education-for-all-o
