"Canadian civil society has spoken out against the multi-billion-dollar arms deal with Saudi Arabia since it was first signed, and has frequently highlighted the risks associated with the use of LAVs within Saudi Arabia in the context of broader human rights concerns, as well as in the Yemen conflict, including the risk of weapons proliferation to Houthi forces." In the event that France requests Mr. Diab’s extradition, we call on Mr. Trudeau to stay true to his words and refuse. CFSC has written multiple times over our concerns about the mistreatment of Hassan Diab and larger flaws with Canada's Extradition Act. https://www.theglobeandmail.com//article-extraditing-hass/

CFSC is one of more than 170 organizations and individuals with expertise in anti-racism, law, and/or human rights have signed on to an open letter to the leaders of the Liberals, the Conservatives, the NDP, the Bloc Québécois and the Greens, expressing deep concern about the use of anti-terrorism powers to address the threat of White supremacism.
Refugee protection in the US drastically deteriorated under Trump, but many policies that violate refugee rights preexisted his administration, and will not be easily reversed by the Biden administration. The Safe Third Country Agreement remains unconstitutional.
BREAKING: Today, the federal government officially designated January 29 as a Day to Commemorate the Quebec City Mosque Shooting and a Day of Action Against Isl...amophobia. Since the Quebec City mosque shooting on January 29th 2017, there has been a groundswell of support across the country to designate January 29th as a national day of action against Islamophobia, hate, and racism. Several municipalities and provinces have designated the day. Over the years we at NCCM have worked shoulder-to-shoulder with community organizations of many faiths and backgrounds to call for this designation so that we are always reminded of the monumental task of eradicating Islamophobia, hate, and racism from our country. We thank the government for taking this step to officially mark this day in the hearts and minds of all Quebecers and Canadians, as a reminder of the innocent lives lost and the work ahead of us to eradicate Islamophobia, hate and racism from our country.
